Requesting w2G totals?

Can you request your W2G and 1099 totals from the IRS? If so, can this
be done online? Thanks.

I don't know about online - but I would be interested in this answer. However, I do know one person who, last year, made a desperate visit to the local IRS office here in Vegas, and they gave him a list of all his W2Gs.

Perhaps Marissa can come in with some information here?

I can't speak generally, but under at least some circumstances the IRS
will provide a transcript of all reported information on file with
them for a tax year (we had occasion to do this one year when we
inadvertantly omitted a distribution from our return). I suggest you
call and ask.

I'm pretty sure this isn't available online.

More on requesting W2G info from the IRS:

You can phone and request this, but it might take some time for the information to get back to you. You might have more luck getting it last-minute if you go to an IRS office.

You don't have to have a "valid reason" to request this, but you might want one if you are asking them at the last minute.

They don't send you a duplicate copy of the W2G - they just send you a list, which has the name of the payer, date issued, amount, etc.

More often than not the IRS won't have that information in their
computers until at or after filing time.

Used to be around August 9th, that mu local Florida IRS bvranch would
give me all the tax information they had for me for the previous tax
year. Then the automatic extention ended Aug 14, so this policy aided
those late filers who lost their records. Now the extention ends Oct
14th, so ??? — In vpFREE@yahoogroups.com, "budobermeyer"
