Reno without a car

Since I got my Reno Harrahs diamond-in-a-day, offers have been
arriving
(for that property only). For instance, if I show up on Aug 19, I get
$120. So I'm thinking of taking the casino bus tour up.

My question is about getting to Atlantis/Peppermill or Nugget/Sparks
without a car. Is a cab the only alternative (any free shuttles??).
If
so, what fares would I expect?

Thanks,

Stuart (RandomStu)

The RTC/Citifare system in Reno is an excellent system
(managed by a company I previously worked for).

Route 1 will take you from downtown (the RTC
Citicenter Bus Transfer Station) all the way to the
Peppermill and Atlantis casinos. The bus runs
throughout the day every 10-15 minutes and from
12:30am to 4:30am once every hour.

To get to Sparks, you can take the 11 or 11X (X =
express) to Citistation, the mini transit hub in
Sparks. The 11X runs every half hour 5:30AM - 6:30PM
and is only a 10-minute express trip via the freeway.
The 11 runs every 15 minutes throughout the day, and
hourly at night, but is a 40-minute local stop trip.

Fares are cheap -- $1.50 each way. Make sure to ask
for a transfer when boarding if you need one. If you
plan to ride more than three times in one day, buy the
$4.00 24-hour pass. When you're done with it, give it
to somebody to use until it expires. I think the bus
schedules are free (The "Bus Book"). If not, it's
worth the 25 cents it costs to buy one.

The passengers on Citifare can be rough. Unlike the
Las Vegas strip routes, most passengers on Citifare
buses are not tourists but rather transit-dependent
people. If you don't enjoy riding with riffraff late
at night, I would suggest taking a cab instead of the
bus for these trips.
