We made our first trip to Reno over Memorial Day weekend on a free flt and
room comp from Harrahs.
Harrahs
The first pleasant surprise is how incorrect the full pay tables are. There
are 4 bars at Harrahs Reno. They all have 1$ 9/6 JOB and 8/5BP. At two of the
bars the royals are progressives. There are two 1$ progressives on the Casino
floor, both upstairs and short pay 8/5 JOB. There are also lots of $1 9/6 JOB
and 8/percentage BP on the Casino Floor. There are FP $5 machines, two in the
high limit area as posted and others at two of the four bars. There are 4
upright progressives in the corner that was up to $8400. I played it until it was
over $9200 when thankfully someone hit it. My wife also hit her first royal in
12 yrs of VP. I wonder how many other people cry when they hit a royal. She
also tipped $50 and thought she was being cheap. She thought I had said 10%
instead of %1. I didn't hit any royals and lost pretty good.
The hotel rooms are adequate, nothing fancy, maybe a little worn.
The diners we had at Andriati's and the steak house were both very good. The
breakfasts were also very good in the cafe.
We saw both shows. Sammy was very good and she is very talented. Showgirls
was ok.
Our favorite casinos were Atlantis and Peppermill for gambling. We did not
eat or see shows at either casino.
Pepperrmill
The full pay VP section in the center of casino has something for everyone.
FP progresive .25 $ $1.0, KIBJW. JOB, BP and more. Some of the machines are
older but there are lots of new ones. Attractive casino, easy to get lost. After
about 40 minutes playing a $1 8/5 BP progressive, I was dealt a royal. My
second ever and only royal for the trip. Let me tell you, it throws you for a loop
when you're dealt one.
Atlantis
Probably our favorite casino in Reno. Lots of FP progressives nice set-up and
friendly people. I played the $1 10/7 DBP at the bartops and the 8/5 BP
progressives where half the machines are in the high limit area and the other half
are not. We both lost here but would definitely go there again if we go back
to Reno.
