reno trip

I just got back from my 'first ever' Reno trip. had a free trip from
H and was very disappointed by the offerings (expected) and the layout
(or lack thereof). It was very interesting 'downtown' as some of the
places were about as bad as it gets and others are quite nice. Ate at
Roxy (eldorado) and it was a excellent meal, also the pizza at the
brewhouse was very good along with the home brews. had seafood at the
oyster pub (silver legacy) and that was very good. Went to Pepp on
Sunday and had the pacifica (seafood salad) sandwich for lunch....
very excellent, then had more seafood at Ramanzio for dinner and it
was fabulous!!!! This was almost certainly the best eating trip I
have ever had, Congatulations to the Reno resturants.... and there
were so many I had to pass up.... I will work on them next trip.

On to gaming..... Plenty of great games to play between 99.5 and
99.9, I dont play DB any more as it is not available at any of my
regular spots and not worth my effort to play correctly. So played
lots of NSUD, Super Aces, and Super Double. I put in quite a bit of
CI at Eldorado, Silver Legacy, and Peppermill, so I hope to get some
nice offers in the future. I am wondering about the Pep. .5% comp
though, from my rough calculations, I did about $200k CI at pep and
had about $500 in comp. That would be right at .25%, and on Sat, I
was talking with a host who said I had a theo at that time of $920 and
they divide that by 4, so I had a comp balance of $230. Are they
switching to theo based system instead of CI based? I still love the
place and cant wait to go back.

Does anyone know what any of the reno properties qualifications are
for airfare reimbursement? We had a very inconvienent flight thru
Dallas and it took most of the day to get there and back, that was a
big minus, but otherwise a great city to eat and play.... two of my
favorite things!!!

While I haven't heard a host talking about theo at the Pmill yet, it wouldn't surprise me. Every place seems to be talking about theo now (in reality it's what most comp systems are based on, it's just a matter of how they assign theo to something).

I know that some things are different at the Pmill than they were a short time ago. While even a couple months ago literature (at specific high roller events) talked about VP play getting 1 point for $40 coin in and slots getting 1 point for $25 coin in, it's been recently suggested that on some of the "better" VP machines it now takes $50 to get a point. I don't know how they determine which machines those would be, as there aren't very many "bad" machines in the place. Perhaps someone with a lot of time on their hands could research it out. At the previously known comp/point rate, that would be .4% comp rate on the better machines. It may be now that tier points and comps are less tightly linked, or that they've downgraded the comp/point ratio.

In August, I earned one point for every $47 (playing only the better
VP) and comps earned were .43%. Seems clear that the point rate
does vary with machine (denomination, pay schedule etc).

Because of all the chaos, I hope forum members will take the time to
report any changes they find.

1 point for every $47 CI ?? Are those like tier points at Harrahs?
I was never told about a point balance, how do you find out?
All the info I was able to gather was from 2 conversations with hosts,
and they only told me my available comp. Although I did get upgraded
to platinum on Sunday after most of my play for the trip.

thanks

Ask at the booth. You can find out your yearly total, "trip" total,
daily total, and probably even your total after a machine session,
although the latter might be inaccurate due to a delay in system
processing. The PM website (see "casino database" and "Reno" for a
link) has a rundown on points, tier levels, and tier benefits.

Your tier (such as platinum) is good for one year, but I could not get
a straight answer from the booth if that was a calendar year (Jan -
Jan) or a year from date of attaining tier. Perhaps Part timer (who
knows PM inside and out) knows the answer?

If you are interested in getting the most (comps) for your play from
a "theo" system such as PM or Atlantis, the key is to find and play VP
machines that have the highest theo. This can be a tedious process
(playing and checking points), but there can be quite a difference in
machine point (and comp) accumulations: from $25 per point (slot rate)
to $100 per point (the removed quarter FPDW). So some, such as regular
local players, may find it a worthwhile exercise.

Generally you'll earn more points per coin-in with longer play, higher
denomination, and lower pay schedule, but that's not definite and there
can be quite a few other variables (ala Harrahs). These complicated
systems are also vulnerable to error and players may occasionally be
awarded more (yay!) or less (damn!) than programmed.

Anyway, that's my understanding and I welcome correction if I've
provided misinformation. Good luck Jim.
