Bottomline
Down $2,500 for trip and we a great long weekend.
Thursday
Park car at $9/day paking at Providence; arrived Reno on Harrah's
charter in afternoon. Rent full size car for $12/day including toke at
National. Drive to Atlantis to play the purest crack cocaine of VP.
Combined Multistrike/Super Times Pay. We did well up over $2K. Drive to
Harrah's and check-in. My Diamond wife not please with the room. But
it's been a long day so go to bed. The room really did suck. Thermostat
failed middle of night. We awoke to over 90 degree room. It was fixed
the next day.
Friday
Take a great ride around Reno/Verdi neigboorhoods on McCarran Blvd.
Nice areas. Beautiful newer homes in planned communities. 2,000 square
feet on a quarter acre for $300K. Down from $400K in 2005. I see the
same type of planned communities in Laughlin, Nevada with the same
housing situation. We are friendly with appraisers in Laughln and
business is bad. McCarran ends near Atlantis. Hey, let's go play there.
"We will play at Harrah's Saturday and Sunday." Down $2K but still a
few hundered on the correct side of the bell curve from arrival.
Atlantis services locals and Californians. They have confidence in
their business plan as they are 50% casino expansiosn; enclose walkway
to convention center; Major room renovations etc. $10 taxi ride gets ya
to you to downtown.
Saturday
Not much luck at Harrah's playing JB/BP with progressive at $4200.
Drive to Atlantis as we saw erlier the FP Double Bonus progressive at
$4400. It's at $4600 and we drop $1K then we leave as Royal was hit.
$700 down from arrival
(Highlight of the trip was Moody Blues concert. Our friend gets us two
tickets at Silver Legacy. The 3rd row center stage in a 2000 seat
theater. Very sweet. Googled MB before the trip and fellow worker MB
afficenado regaled me with his Moody Blues 30 year voyage.
2 of them are well preserved in "early" 60 years old. Grahem, the
drummer not so much in "latish 60's.
I'd put the seats, the crowd, and the Band at A plus. I'm 59 and
appreciate seeing these folks; still going strong. A Wise choice for
primary drummer but Grahem did do his thing. No more Ray Thomas touring
but very good flutist/singers/keyboard folks.
But I digress......
Sunday
Gave Harrah's about $35K action and drop $1,500.
Monday
1:00 afternoon flight. Stop at Atlantis for a couple of hours and say
gooodbye to the MS/STP. Left her some more money. Arrive home at
Midnight. Voluntered to be bumped for $220 until Tuesday but nobody got
called. SW seems to have a good business plan but its kind of a bus.
Harrah's charter was "free." Room not to our Mohegan Sun "standards."
Casino needs renovations. I'm not sure if Harrah's has confidence in
Reno. Climate change seems to be making it tough to drive from Arnold
and Maria land. Gasoline prices may influence. Reno does have an
excellent airport; Amtrak service and Two super-highways from
Sacremento. And there is LAKE TAHOE an hour away in the most incredible
scenery.
Reno needs to attract folks from New England. See Motherboard Database
and VPFREE RENO Sister board.
Car was great and we even drove to Virginia City one day. My
buddy's "comped" Moody Blues tickets put us 10 feet from a band that's
latest Album is called "December."
David and Teresa in Boston.
