Reno pre-trip report

Hi all,

I'm headed to Reno for the first time in 2 years this May 6-9. I'm staying at Harrah's on one of their Total Rewards offers, three nights of free room plus $300 cash. (Incidentally, it says I can redeem coupon any time during stay, but what's to stop me from redeeming it the first night and then just checking out after one night?)

At Harrah's, I'm hoping to snag one of the two remaining 9-6 DDB quarter machines (5-coin) near the Sports book. But I'll be looking to try out other places too, ideally with 10-6 DDB or 10-7 DB with or w/o progressive. I start at quarters but go up to 50-cent if things go well.

I love the VP offerings and slot-club benies at Cal Neva, but the smoke and grime of that place is not for the timid. I have a $130 free play mailer to redeem there.

Other spots in the database that I'm thinking of trying:

Atlantis - (never been) - I would like to try non-smoking Sky Terrace but my understanding is there's no 99%+ VP in quarters there.

Eldorado - 9-6 DDB progressive?

Silver Legacy - 9-6 DDB progs.?

JA's Nugget (never been) - 10-6 DDB, also 9-7 TDB.

Western Village (never been) - 10-7 DB progs?

Peppermill - (never been) 10-7 DB prog, and 9-7 TDB

Any other places in the general Reno/Sparks area with those types of games that I should try?

Are they any club-signup bonuses for Nugget, W. Village, Atlantis or Peppermill?

Thanks for any help!

~ Bob

Welcome back to Reno.

Atlantis - (never been) - I would like to try non-smoking Sky Terrace but my understanding is there's no 99%+ VP in quarters there.

In the Sky Terrace, at the top of the escalator coming from the casino (Not the parking lot) there's a bank of 9/6 JoB 25c with a Progressive, they also have NSUD in 50c on the same bank.

JA's Nugget (never been) - 10-6 DDB, also 9-7 TDB.

JANugget has 10/6 DDB as well as 10/7 DB and 9/7 TDB all over.

Are they any club-signup bonuses for Nugget, W. Village, Atlantis or Peppermill?

I know JANugget gives you between $5-$500 (99.9% of the time it's $5) for signing up, as well as a $5 food credit.
GSR gives you $5 (or maybe it's $10) FP for signing up, and if you give them your email, they email you $10 more in FP.

No it isn't!
But that Little Nugget across the street makes Cal-Neva look like the Wynn! When I was at the Sands last year they busted some guy that week for pimping 14 year old girls out of the parking lot...
You definitely need to go to the Atlantis and Peppermill. The 2 best looking places in town by far. JA Nugget is surprisingly great and big with the best buffet I have ever been to.
Gold Dust west, Circus Circus, Sands, Bonanza, Grand Sierra and JA Nugget will all give you a few bucks to play for new sign ups.

At the Atlantis, for a new card sign up you get some free play. You spin an electronic wheel. Expect $10 or less. I do not believe the Peppermill or W. Village have any sign up bonus going on now. The Nugget was covered in the above post.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, I had the misfortune of spending a night in the Sands 2 years ago. Words cannot describe it ....
