Specific to SL, by my calcs my comp level was 0.40% (about $940 divided by $235,000). I tend to believe they set different levels, but also I play DDB and ACE$BP a lot, which are 99% and 99.4% EV, not counting the Prog level of DDB, clearly a higher theoretical profit to the casino than FPJW and FPDW (both available in quarters at SL).
I think the dancer and the singer INFLUENCE players' strategies, but everyone is responsible for their own game selection, bets and holds. The authors don't want to be gurus and players don't want to be mindless lemmings. <reference Devo song Freedom of Choice for a counter-opinion> YMMV.
