Reno - Jan 1-5

Were these IGT products? In the past, the auto-hold on IGT was not
accurate. At Majestic Star in Gary IN, after a number of us complained, all
the auto-holds on IGT products were turned off.

I just posted a trip report at vpFree-Reno.

Those (14) $1 FPDW were still at the Reno Silver Legacy Jan 5.
[So payoff the OVER on the Jan 5 Over/Under line. ]
They were never Full during the day and almost empty from Midnite
thru - breakfast. Bright display, fast play setting, mechanics
will even adjust them for you.
IF requested, they were even toggling ON the AUTO-HOLD feature (!!)
Has anyone seen this practice in Nevada before?
I know the machines have them, but maybe the Silver Legacy was just
experimenting.

I brought home money this trip due to:
one .25 BP prog Royal (1035) and
one very friendly $1 DDB machine that DEALT ME Quad A's with a kicker
TWICE within 8 hrs for +2K each time. Just had to carefully hit
the five hold buttons: no advanced strategy required.

Cheers,
  Mark P

Well, I'm like you, it would take me a lot of checking before I blindly used an
auto-hold, but it would save a lot of finger-poking of buttons. These were
uprights. It's user-beware as usual. The main message was that the slot
mechanics were unusually "available", so the knowledgeable players were
enjoying some experimentation with the set-up.

I like auto-hold machines even if they aren't accurate. On a lot of routine hands they are correct, i.e., a pair or two pair, depending on the game. It speeds up my play because routine hands don't take any time for me. When the auto-hold is wrong, then I simply correct it.

It also has an added advantage: most people will use the auto-hold for all hands - therefore, the machine will make more money for the casino and perhaps last longer for the few knowledgeable players.
