Reno Hilton

Just got back from a 4 day trip to Reno (my first). We enjoyed staying
at the Reno Hilton. Played the 4 PE machines by the sports bar.
Cashback and comps both appeared to still be .25%. They are still
using the Connection card. However, we went to Tahoe and played at
Caesars and found out the transfer of the Hilton was done on the 12th
and the Connection card issued by the Hilton is no longer good at the
Caesars casinos.

By the way, we took the balloon ride over Lake Tahoe. It was one of
the most beautiful trips I have ever taken. I would highly recommend
it. The website is www.laketahoeballoons.com

The following comments are based on a recent trip to Tahoe where I played at Ceasar's on June 28.

Actually, you need a new connection card for Tahoe Caesar's. Even though their cards still say "Connection Card" on them, they really aren't part of the Connection system any more. It's not Reno Hilton that was separated out, but Caesar's Tahoe. If you previously had a Connection card from Caesar's Tahoe, and not some other property, it may still work, but I'd go to the slot desk first and get a new card before playing.

According to Harrah's literature, Casinos that are now part of Harrah's that use the Connection card can still use it (Caesar's Tahoe is NOT listed), and tacked on at the end of the paragraph is something like "and you can still use your Connection card at Reno Hilton for the time being." I don't know for sure whether Reno Hilton is really sharing comps with the Harrah's Connection card casinos. According to Harrah's literature, some time in 2006 their Connection card properties and their Horseshoe properties should be integrated into their Rewards system.

The bad thing at Caesar's Tahoe is that if you stick a foreign Connection card into a machine, it will look like it's working, but you won't be accumulating any comps or play. You should go to the slot desk at Caesar's Tahoe before you play if you haven't been there in a while.

Caesars Tahoe is now owned by Columbia Sussex Corp, which also owns
the Horizon across the street. I wonder if the connection card means
it is connected to the Horizon. Does anyone know? I have a card from
the River Palms in Laughlin (also a CS property), and it does not
work at the Horizon, so I wonder what the "connection card" means- if
anything.

It looks like things are in a big disarray at Caesars. I received a
mail offer this week with my address, but someone else's name and
card number. Inside was a coupon for $20 cash, but it had a totally
different name and card number on that certificate. I did call, and
they said that mailing was a big screw up, and the computers are
having trouble with the change over. No argument from me on that!

It means that Caesar's Tahoe used to be linked to other properties that were on the Connection Card.

Even though the Caesar's Tahoe cards still say "Connection Card", they are in fact not currently linked with any other casinos as far as I know.

As I said in my earlier post, if you go to Caesar's Tahoe, make sure you get a new card. Foreign connection cards will appear to work, but in fact won't be accumulating any cash back or comps.

It also appears that Caesar's Tahoe is currently undergoing an inventory overhaul. As of yesterday, there were still 1 $2 Pick'em, 1 $1 Pick'em, and 3 $1 Deuces Deluxe, but I would not be surprised if they disappeared soon. This morning they were putting in new banks of penny slots, and I imagine they want everything to go TITO, so the Bally's and Sigma games may have short lives.

I called and booked the Labor Day Weekend at Caesars Tahoe, and I
asked about the card. The gal told me the exact same thing. I have a
connection card issued by Caesars Tahoe, but she said it might not
work, and it is best to get a new card. The connection card issued by
them will only work at Caesars Tahoe- it will not work at the
Horizon, or any of their other properties. They are working on a way
to combine the cards, but for now the "connection" card does not
connect to any other property.
