Reno Hilton Report

I spent eleven days at the Reno Hilton for a bridge tournament (and there
was a poker tournament at the same time). Got the poker rate for my room with
the help of my poker-playing bridge-playing pal, Sam - poker rate was $25/35,
bridge rate was $89!!
I played almost no VP since they had removed their FPDB machines for two
weeks for 'repairs,' our guess being the poker and bridge crowd scared them.
There were some plays on progressives that some of our players took advantage
of, including a $6800 or so payout on JOB that my teammate's husband hit the
last night while we were winning the Women's Teams event.
I did play a LOT of Pai Gow and got very lucky, hitting a Royal, several
straight flushes and a few quads so I came home about $1,000 plus.
Before I left, I visited Casino Services and had a nice chat with the lady
there. She took a few nights off my room (my roommate had already paid her
half) and with my comp dollar account, the trip was free.
Good result IMO. I was about even at VP since one day I hit quads and used
a coupon for 50 coins but other tries did not yield quads at all.

I suspect you may be right about removing the FPDW machines. I just
happened to be at the RH a couple of years ago when the bridge
tournament was going on and several of the bridge players were also
hitting the games regularly and accurately. They probably want all
the squeezes at the bridge tables

I'm heading to Reno next month. Are the Bonus Poker progressives
still there? I computed the progressive meters were very strong so
the game was positive more often than it was negative.

Do they have a funbook at the Reno Hilton? I might stay there in
June.
