The only thing I noted that has changed at all is they are painting
behind the lobby front desk. Sales people are now set up right by the
front desk also. Some workers now have cheesy looking tape covering
up the "Reno Hilton" on their name tags.
Over all I talked with some workers and the general feeling is this
planned change will not happen and they are vastly over reaching for
Reno. Everything still says Reno Hilton. You'd think after all this
time they would have been ready with new signage right away. The look
of the new rooms seems very "gothic" to me. The info channel in the
room says the casino will be moved to a free standing building so that
guests do not have to walk through the casino to their rooms. This
was a red flag as it shows a complete lack of knowledge by the owners
about what a casino is. They plan on the largest water park in the
nation and a Bellagio type fountain that out does the Bellagio
fountain. Plus another tower. They plan of moving the main entrance
to the bus entrance. They said they plan on "Vegas night clubs and
Hollywood restaurants." Every step of the way is a disclaimer that
says "Need not be built". All I could think of was the guys who
purchased the Golden Nugget and Barrack Gaming who purchased the Plaza
and others in Vegas. "Hey, let's buy a casino! Sounds like fun! Do you
know anything about casinos? NO! Cool! Let's do it!"
My prediction: Some cosmetic remodeling will take place and within
one year or so it will be sold again.
I did notice that it appeared that maybe 5% of all machines have been
removed. The bank of slant top VP right in front of the high limit
room is gone. The Connection Card machines have been removed and your
comps no longer show on the machines when you insert your card. No
changes to CB or comps as of yet. No card changes as of yet.
