Reno Hilton comps

Reno Hilton. I had no history there, but I sent an e-mail to a host
who checked my play at Caesar's Tahoe, and he comped the room upfront
based upon that. (snip)

Seems like a strange way to
run a railroad.

The RH is indeed a strange duck. I have lots of history there - last trip
was 10 months ago with a loss of almost $1800 playing FPDW. Wonder if
that's why they took them out? (-;

I get some offers for slot tournaments, never free, with a "special" room
rate of $25 per night. No thanks. Hosts have been okay, but mailed offers
are bad.

If we go back to Reno, the Legacy will get our play. Still have good games,
and the mailers are usually pretty good.

All in all, I'll take Vegas anyday over Reno. I can fly from Spokane to LV
for almost the same amount as Reno - that is a no brainer to me.

Reminds me of Seattle in the 70's when Boeing was laying off - "will the
last one out please turn off the lights?" Seems to me Reno is facing the
same problem.

Do you like the quantity of machines in Vegas (over Reno)? or is it the "other stuff that
sways your preference? I like Reno for the very reason you mentioned: not at all
crowded. Comps per coin-in must be better too. Plus they're HUNGRY for your
business- less attitude, more genuine good and friendly service.

Funny, I work at Boeing, since 1979. They seem to have "survived" that downturn
from the 70's, no? I betcha Reno does too, altho' not necessarily every casino.

Are there direct flights to Reno from Spokane? SW? Alaska/Horizon? I board a flights
in Seattle that just came from Spokane - a painful stop & waste of an hour at least,
huh?

I have been going to LV 5-6 times per year, and to Reno

2 times per year (in the summer when LV is just TOO hot)from the
midwest, for the last 30+ years. I love Reno, but I ADORE LV!
Why? Well, something about first loves, perhaps. 30 years ago, I
played BJ & slots. When vp appeared, in the early 80's, I found my
true love. While I agree that Reno is slower placed and more
friendly than the LV strip I find that downtown LV is very much the
same, IF you go during the week. Weekends are a madhouse all over
LV, and I avoid them like the plague. I am a .25 player,
rarely .50. and almost never 1.00. I can get fully comped (WITH BIG
SMILES) all over downtown whenever and for long as I request. I'm
sure this is because I visit during the week when business is
slower, as well as the the fact that I frequently play 10+ hours per
day. So far, and I do have my fingers crossed, I have always been
able to find advantage machines to play in LV. Should that change,
I would certainly consider giving Reno all my business. I really
like the fact, that in the downtown area, you can walk to 7 or 8
reasonably nice casinos, within a 6 block span, and feel perfectly
safe doing so. When I go to Reno, and stay at Silver Legacy, there
are not too many casinos within walking distance, that I care to
play in. That's just my opinion....to each his own.
