Part timer, thank you so much for your information. We'll put it to good use. I might play a little blackjack too; any ideas where the best games are?
>From: Donald Ross
Good morning to everyone. My wife and I are heading to Reno in a few weeks
for our first visit. We've heard the gambling is great and the
sight-seeing in the area is equally appealling. We've narrowed our hotel
choices to the Peppermill, Silver Legacy, and /or Atlantis. I have a few
questions and thanks so much for your help:
1. at the Peppermill would we receive the same comps for an equal
amount of coin-in playing FPDW and 100 play JoB?
I believe so. Comp seem to be based on coin in.
2. at the Peppermill what will it take for a comped room?
Talk to a host. If this is your first trip to the Peppermill, but you do
play elsewhere, you may have your first trip's room comped up front with
meals reviewed at the end of the trip. Your best bet is to be honest about
the level of play you are likely to give.
3. at the Peppermill what will it take for comped room and basic food?
Talk to a host. While hosts can comp off your room as discretionary, in
general room fees come out of your comp account at the Peppermill even when
coming in on an offer. If you obtain a higher tier status, you get room
upgrades for free, though. If you use a coupon for a room (as opposed to
some other mailed offer) the room charge will not come off your comp
account, but in this case your "energy surcharge" of about $3 won't be
comped off either.
Comp accrual seems to be at about .5% at the Peppermill, but I'm not
certain.
4. at the Silver Legacy would we receive the same comps for an equal
amount of coin-in playing FPDW and 50 play JoB?
Yes. Comps are based on coin in, and can be reviewed at several kiosks in
the casino and near the restaurants.
comped room? comped room and basic food?
Talk to a host, and see what can be arranged for your first trip.
When I've stayed on offers, the room has not come out of the comp account.
Food has always come out of the comp account. Comps accrue at the SL at .3%
of coin in. You get an extra 10% comp accrual (now .33% of coin in) if you
are over 50 (55?). If you play on double points days (not sure when or if
they have those at the moment) I don't believe the senior bonus is doubled.
Tier status at the SL is based on daily coin in. So, don't put in short
days at the SL, concentrate your play. If you are staying on an offer, I'm
not sure if the coin in is averaged across all days of your stay or not.
And since you mentioned the Atlantis - Similar advice, talk to a host before
your first trip to see if something can be arranged in advance. Comps at
the Atlantis seem to be similar to the Peppermill (Peppermill may have a
higher accrual rate). Room stays from offers at the Atlantis do not come
off your comp account. Comps seem to be based mostly on coin in, although
marketing offers seem to have a very complicated formula for determining
them, so what you play may affect bounce back and other offers. It's much
harder to obtain a high tier status at the Atlantis than at Peppermill or
SL, and the Atlantis is often sold out on nights or booked up for offers
when the others have rooms available. The Atlantis often has people staying
there for the nearby convention center.
There are good reasons to stay/play at all three properties. If you like
being downtown, Peppermill and Atlantis are out of the way, while SL is
connected directly to the Circus Circus and El Dorado casinos (upstairs you
can transition from one casino to another without realizing it). SL seems
to send out the most show offers (if you like going for shows), but
Peppermill and Atlantis send out more tournament offers (if you like cheap
or free slot/VP/blackjack etc. tournaments).
