Refreshing information

I guess I really don't know what a troll is. In my dictionary it says
that a troll is a legendary Scandinavian creature that lives in
caves. I wish I was that.

I have read your posts on Winpoker, vp-mail and vpFREE, and there is
little doubt in my mind that you are a troll. *

You seem to get a kick out of inventing obscure, unlikely situations to
support devil's advocate positions. When challenged, you usually become
a moving target, changing the scenario after the fact, pleading
ignorance, blaming someone/something else, or otherwise confusing the
discussion.

Your introduction of the vpFREE FAQ as an excuse for being challenged on
misusing ER/EV is a case in point. Considering your ability to cite and
understand several mathematical concepts, I don't believe that the FAQ
had any bearing on your error, and I don't believe that the FAQ entry
confused or mystified you. When I challenged your supposed FAQ
confusion, you responded with your standard type obfuscations that don't
warrant a serious response from me.

I don't appreciate your use of the vpFREE FAQ in your trolling
repertoire, since it has wasted my time, and I have better things to do
than entertain you.

It would be nice if you could abandon your troll persona, since you come
across as a pleasant, intelligent person who would have a lot to
contribute if you played it straight. If you choose to remain a troll,
please do it somewhere other than vpFREE.

Peace,

* Troll - Newsgroup posters whose primary motivation is to get a rise
            out of people.

Okay, I had forgotten you had posted the definition which I looked in
some
dictionaries and could not find again recently,

"* Troll - Newsgroup posters whose primary motivation is to get a rise
            out of people."

I resent being called the above, and resented it then. I believe, as
I said
in a post, that calling people's names is insulting, the more so if
the
person calling names assumes people's motivations.

The rest of the paragraphs in this old post e-mailed also assumes
things
about me that are not true. If I said I was confused about EV/ER it is
because I was, and in my post on the matter I explained why. It was
proven
later by many posts without a shadow of a doubt that the terms are
used
differently by different authors. Using language so cavalierly
without a
dictionary to define "troll", "EV/ER", etc., etc. is bound to lead to
confusions, and it has. I do not possess telepathy to guess what
people are
talking about when using ill defined terms.

I play Video Poker often on my visits to Las Vegas and like the game.
Since
Video Poker is a game I like, I enjoy exploring its many aspects.
There are
many styles of play I try in Video Poker such as short coin,
progressive
systems, a slot style of play, using streaks, etc., etc. I'm not the
only
one interested in this but some other posters or former posters such
as
Steve Jacobs or Rob Singer are too. In any case, such styles are often
claimed by others to be beneficial. I welcome any new style of play
in Video
Poker as something else to try, a variation on an old theme, and I
like
different anecdotes and situations where the game appears. This is not
unusual for someone with a hobby, it happens to all gamblers as you
can see
in the literature of books on gambling and realated matters. This
interest
in all aspects of the field seems to be sacrilegous to vpFREE. It
seems
vpFREE adopts just one style of play based on certain mathematical
theorems
valid in certain limits, and any curiosity about exploring other
avenues is
not only discouraged, but censored and insulted in some cases, such
as the
almost ten months old e-mail you have sent shows.

It was a very unpleasant surprise for me to start posting in vpFREE
and get
the reaction I got. Don't worry. To me VP is a hobby I enjoy and if I
can't
enjoy myself talking about it on certain message boards, then I
won't. You
know I have not posted again in vpFREE since October of last year,
and if
posting in FREEvpFREE is going to be high maintenance, I rather do
something
else.

Peace,

A non-Scandinavian non-legendary creature who does not live in a cave.

Hmm. You resent being classified as a troll, but don't deny
that you are a troll.

As I told you in a recent post, "troll" has a precise meaning and
describes your VP newsgroup participation accurately. It wasn't
meant as an insulting term. It was just calling a spade a spade.
If someone acts, talks, walks and looks like a troll, it's a logical
conclusion that s/he is a troll.

Your reference to vpFREE is gratuitous, misleading and inaccurate.
Serious video poker discussions are, and always have been
welcome on vpFREE. OTOH, vpFREE doesn't cater to and is not
amused by trolls.

You're very welcome on FREEvpFREE. I've always enjoyed your fertile
imagination and have read all of your posts on various forums with interest.
They have a lot of entertainment value.

And, I have no interest in interfering with your trolling activities, as long
as you don't do them on vpFREE. However, I will rebut ANY gratuitous,
misleading and inaccurate comments that you make about vpFREE.

Besides considering being called a troll an insult and resenting it,

I can think of insults for different people. For example, I could
call "fatso" a person with lots of redundant rules; and "midget" a
person with a tight closed mind. I have not your fertile imagination
to find a legendary creature's name to characterize the type of
behavior encouraged by vpFREE to the detriment of a fertile
examination of the game. Whatever word I come up with you will rebuke
anyway, so I won't come up with any.
