Reduced coin-in for Diamond?

I had an unusual experience recently, in earning my Diamond status for this year under the new rules.

I was playing a machine that was clearly marked “$25 to earn one tier point” or something to that effect. I sampled the earnings meter vs time, and playing single-line $1 Jacks or Better, I was earning 50 points on the meter for every 15 minutes (I did two samples that were about the same), indicating I was getting $1250 coin-in per 15 minutes, or $5000 per hour if I maintained that rate (which translates to 1000 hands an hour, about what I usually play).

But when I’d pull my card and re-insert it, my daily earned points always seemed to go up more than the amount on the meter. When I was getting close to 2500 points, and calculating how much more I’d
have to play to get there, I’d pull the card and re-insert it, and find that I was getting there faster than I should have.

I ended up earning 2500 points in about 5 hours, which my calculations say should have actually taken about 12-13 hours. I repeated this the next day, earning Diamond in two sessions. Suspicious, I confirmed my earned tier points at the TR desk at the end of each day’s play – and I subsequently received the email confirming the 5000 bonus points for each day, and my online account shows the 15,000 tier credits too.

My experience is more compatible with the old $10 per point - except then, the meter should have been racking up 125 points for every 15 minutes. Is it possible that there are still a few machines floating around that have not been updated to the $25 per point, even though the meter seems to confirm that rate? Or that daily totals are being
updated at a lower coin-in requirement than the meter shows? If the meter had shown more points, then I would not, of course, have been surprised to find the totals as I did; it would have definitely been consistent with a $10 per-point machine that had been labeled for $25 per point, but had not been actually “upgraded” (the euphemism that CET is using for new machines with worse pay tables than the old ones).

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I hesitate to mention this here for fear a “suit” will read it and find and “fix” the machine - but then I decided it wouldn’t be that long before that would happen anyway.

Unless you’re in the habit of using hallucinogens, I’d suggest that your observations are complete enough for you to draw your own conclusion without the need for a post here.

You have stumbled upon another tool in the arsenal of finding an advantage play. I always check for a possible error in giving additional points for the same games in a bank of the same machines. I recently found a new one at a Lake Tahoe casino and over the years I have discovered a few others. The most famous “error” was the 50 play nickel 9/6 JOB game at Harrah’s Laughlin that gave out points as if you were playing slots. Many people here remember this “secret” play that lasted a long time. Bob Dancer even wrote about this one. I was one of many that earned Diamond in a Day on this game. I am certain that there are many other machines out there giving out additional points- even today.
