Red Rock Station

We are RFB at Green Valley Ranch so were surprised that a Red Rock
Station casino host we spoke to last week turned down our request for
a 2-night comp for mid-May for Red Rock. He did offer us an $80
casino rate, plus the possibility of an additional $20 Resort Fee
tacked on per day; Red Rock has not determined the Resort Fee or if
there even will be one, that's up in the air right now.

Is the offer of a casino rate typical because the Red Rock Station is
just opening? Will Red Rock will be that HUGE a success, at least
initially, that room comps will be hard to come by? Just curious as
to others observations on comps -or lack of- when a new hotel (albeit
off-Strip) opens. Thanks in advance for any discussion.

( I'd take it , a mid weekend room for FRI/SAT/SUN is listed at over $900 including tax )

Red Rock is suppose to be a cut above GVR - Thus they anticipated higher play requirements for rooms. I doubt GVR has opened up their computers to the RR host. Remember, they may be stations , but they hate losing customers to another station.
The question to ask is "how much play is needed to get the room bill down to zero ?"

Yes rooms in the 1st 2 months go for a premium, especially if they delay the opening ( which could and does happen ). They expect
big things from this place and are recruiting dealers and hosts from all over Vegas.

Thanks in advance for any discussion.

Green Valley is known for a very tight comping system as it is. Even
at their highest level, Chairman, I dont get a 1/3 of what I get at
Harrahs as a seven star. If Red rock is going to be tighter than that
then they definately wont get me as a customer and they most likely
will have issues with other locals as well. I dont think the local
market by itself, with tight comps, will keep Red Rock afloat
especially when almost 1 billion was spent building it. I spoke to a
few other hosts at the other stations and they have their doubts as
well.

Interesting post. My thought is usually whether or not the place is
profitable for me to play at. Some of the Stations are for me, others
not. It certainly is very difficult to be profitable at
Chairman-level; actually, the higher up the Stations food chain you
go, the less you get, and I have long thought their non-gaming product
as second-rate overall, like because it's a locals casino they don't
have to try as hard. 7S is a much better deal, but not so much in
Vegas as it is elsewhere.

GVR might have the worst VP in the chain, and their out there is that
they are partnered. They own RR lock stock and barrell. So, we'll see
what happens, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
