Red Rock Station (long)

Great write up! Was just there myself, my two cents...

Other than a few banks of
Optimum Plays,

Interestingly these two Optimum Pay banks, in addition to the usual FPDW at 25c, have 10/7 DB, 10/6 DDB, and 15/8 loose deuces at the dollar level. The machines are the same sort of flat-screen slant-tops as at the Wynn. They are sort of slow, but not overly so.

>everything was pretty short pay. There were a lot of progressive machines,

though (including a 10-play with a progressive for every line!), so there could be some
good opportunities for people willing to monitor them.

Yup. Also, they had the first Multistrike progressives I'd ever seen, albeit very short pay. The crowd made a thorough search inadvisable; the best non-optimum play pay schedule I saw was 8/5 bonus 25c thru $5. Many short-pay super times pays.

We didn't go into any of the restaurants because they were all packed,

Ditto. The place was mobbed. Walking was exaperating, as the pace was usually dictated by a walker-pusher somewhere up the aisle.

Overall, I thought it was the most beautiful casino I've ever seen, but I can see where some
people would think I was crazy.

Crazy like me. It was stunning. Kudos to Stations. The east garage parking elevator alone was more elegant than most casinos.

We left before they allowed play, so I didn't get a chance to check out speed or comfort.
Did you see the big uprights with huge armrests and "blinders" around the screens? Kind
of like a sports book "cubicle." They had a few Dbl Dbl Bonus and other games scattered
around like that. The nice thing about there not being any play allowed is that very few
people were crowding the machines so we could look everywhere. I heard only 4,000
people were there last night before they opened, and I'm guessing that's a lot fewer than
were there at the same time you were!

Wanted to point out that we saw 3 banks of Optimum Plays (maybe 4 - did I mention the
champagne was free?), but because they are all only 1/2 banks (on one side only), you
couldn't walk through the middle of the casino and be sure that you saw everything. In
fact, one bank I only spotted because the light from the signage was reflected in a door
leading outside.

Yeah, Viktor got pretty excited about those until he saw the paytables. BTW, did you see
the mega Wheel of Fortune "community" slot machine in front of the theater? I saw it the
last 2 years at G2E but never thought it would actually end up in a casino because of the
amount of floor space it takes up. I think it's location is a bad idea; kids at the movies and
arcade will be drawn to it.

I wish that I had the opportunity to check out the exterior, but we were forced to certain
parking areas and there were tons of people telling me where to drive that I was trying not
to hit, so I missed out on the overall architecture. I took a few pictures inside, wish I had
taken more. For example, I was so awed by the crystal curatins and chandelier in the
center bar that I forgot to take a photo. Dunno if anyone would be interested in seeing
them, esp if you're all locals and can check it out yourselves.

Best,
Bettie

Multistrike players may already know of this game, but I'd never seen a
5-play multistrike before ... 5 horizontal games + the standard 4
vertical games.

The casino is quite remarkable IMHO. The sports/racing book area is
one of the best I've seen anywhere. The outdoor areas surrounding the
pool are very well done. My son went to Cherry last night until 4AM.
No cover, and good music.
