Sorry, Correna! When you wrote that you had the machine slowed down, I
incorrectly assumed that you meant a speed slower than the second fastest speed
possible. Since that speed is adequate for all but a VERY few people, I retract
my "selfish" comments. I am personally quite happy with the machine set to
the second fastest speed, and, as you say, 1000+ hph is easily possible at
that setting.
Again, my apologies!

The logic of slowing a machine down totally escapes me. Just
think about it for a moment. Regardless of how fast cards may appear
on the screen, the player IS totally in control of how long he/she

push and when.
Response: This has to do with personal comfort. When the machine
is set to the fastest level possible, I find that I actually get a
headache (and I rarely get headaches). The tech changed it to the
2nd fastest speed - not slow by any means, but enough of an
improvement for me to enjoy playing vp.
Anyone who has a machine "slowed down" on purpose is selfishly
doing a major disservice to all players who follow on that machine,
especially to the members of this group who play for a living and
want them as fast as possible. We all know how hard it is to get
Stations to speed them back up.
Response: Selfish? You've got to be kidding. Every person I saw
was playing 25c dueces - can you really make a living on that? I
played $1 DB at 1000+ hph... and did quite well too.
