Red Rock speeds up some

Then I asked if he could/would slow the machine down, to which he obliged.

The logic of slowing a machine down totally escapes me. Just think about it for a moment. Regardless of how fast cards may appear on the screen, the player IS totally in control of how long he/she wants to look at them before making a choice of which buttons to push and when. Anyone who has a machine "slowed down" on purpose is selfishly doing a major disservice to all players who follow on that machine, especially to the members of this group who play for a living and want them as fast as possible. We all know how hard it is to get Stations to speed them back up.

While a player's having the speed reduced is the bane of my play in at
least one instance, I can see where one might make the request.

For some, there's a certain compulsion to match machine speed (I'll
include myself here) with the consequence that one might play faster
than what can be accurately managed.

However, in the case of the repeated instance I encounter, it's my
guess that the player merely likes watching the cards play out -- at a
speed slower than I can deal them.

I guess that it is OK to keep repeating this premise...

We all have our own reasons for playing VP. Some of us, even, play for frivolous
entertainment, as silly as that may sound to some of the "very serious" players here.

Some of us more "laid back" people don't object to those of you who prefer the "pro style"
of playing as fast as possible. Why can't more be tolerant of us.

As Harry P. has suggested, there are some of us who might like to ruminate a bit,
occassionally, on some of the hands that we are dealt, and why we may have chosen what
we did?

Absolutely agree. Why force anyone to sit at a slow speed machine
just because a few can't handle the cards being dealt quickly. I
don't want to read my book while waiting for cards to be dealt.

I agree. I once played at a $ AA machine(they still exist) at Harrahs
Prairie Band Casino and the cards came up instantly. This was too
fast for me, so I tapped my feet to a rhythm that I liked. So many
ways to deal with fast card deals. So few ways to deal with slow card
deals.

Myself, I like the speed to be such that when the fifth card is
shown, I have decided what to hold. If he machine is too fast, then
I have to wait until all five cards show then make up my mind. It
seems faster to play at a moderate speed to me.

I sure am glad the administrator is moderating this forum because I
know that lots of you would have comments about my ability, but that
is the way I like it and so there.

Response: This has to do with personal comfort. When the machine
is set to the fastest level possible, I find that I actually get a
headache (and I rarely get headaches). The tech changed it to the
2nd fastest speed - not slow by any means, but enough of an
improvement for me to enjoy playing vp.

Response: Selfish? You've got to be kidding. Every person I saw
was playing 25c dueces - can you really make a living on that? I
played $1 DB at 1000+ hph... and did quite well too.
