On a related subject (collecting on lost tickets), I have had two positive experiences.
One was at the Palms where I left the casino without cashing a ticket of almost $200 and then inadvertantly discarded it with some trash. With little hope of recovery, I went back the next day and met with a slot manager. Since I was able to identify when and where I had cashed out, she was able to verify my ticket number, the amount, and that it had not been cashed. She then cancelled the original ticket and paid me. A very pleasant experience,
The second event was similar. I had to leave the Atlantis (in Reno) quickly to catch a plane and took an uncashed ticket of a little over $200. My intention was to cash it during a trip I had scheduled about a month later but I was forced to change my plans and cancel that trip. Since the ticket said "invalid after 60 days," I mailed it. It never got there (or at least, it didn't get to the person addressed). To jump to the bottom line, I got the money back (although in this instance, they waited until the 60 days elapsed and verified that no one had cashed the ticket). Again, I was able to verify when and where I had played so they could identify the specific uncashed ticket.
I don't know what the general experience is, but I am two for two on recovery and in each case was not expecting such a positive result.
