X dollars of coin-in on a slot machine or poor VP
earns more comps than on their better VP.
Also, from what's been reported, it appears to me
that earned comps plus discretionary/marketing comps
for different level players (for equal play) will be about
the same. For example, a C2 player has $100,000
coin-in on a 9/6 JoB and gets DC/MC that totals $700
and $300 in earned comps. A local with the same action
on the same machine who didn't get any DC/MC would
probably get about $1000 in earned comps.
It should be noted that the numbers provided here are hypothetical and
don't represent specific LVH comp guidelines (although they're
moderately in the ballpark).
Second, it's not a new event that LVH provides a comp allowance based
on theo. That's been the longstanding case. Truth is, however, that
to most visiting (non local) players it means less than ever since the
introduction of the Connection Comp system last July.
Used to be the case that a player could be eligible for comps over and
above those designated in their Cx comp tier, provided that their play
was high into that tier range and they made relatively light use of
other comps.
For example, prior to the new CC kiosk system, on occasion, as high C2
players we'd receive a comp for the spa or salon even though those
aren't standard C2 benefits. Now, however, we're expected to draw on
our kiosk comps for anything outside of standard C2 perks.
It's pretty much the case these days that a player receives what
they're entitled to under the Cx standard comp allowance, plus the
comp kiosk allowance to cover other comps. Outside of the highest
echelon C1 players, I've been given to understand that few truly
discretionary comps are extended by hosts these days.
That said, if you happen to be a player at C3 or below and dine at a
restaurant not covered under your Cx comp status, and at the same time
happen to give them a particularly strong strip (say, for the sake of
example, 30%-50% higher than averaged in your prior history), you
might reasonably approach a host to see if they'll comp that meal.
Don't be surprised, however, if you're required to fully exhaust your
Connection Comp balance before any additional comp is considered.
