Hi Mark. Thanks for your thoughtful comments.
Gee, John, your scenario seems exaggerated and scary.
Exaggerated? Yeah, possibly. Scary? That's the idea.
But I DO know that 50c and $1 denoms
are not that scary, I don't think players start tapping out credit
lines because they play at that level.
Depends on how much credit they have. I play primarily dollars, and am in the midst of a 11-month, $14,000 slide. It might turn around tomorrow. Or, it might not.
To quote Master Yoda:
"You are not afraid, Luke Skywalker? You WILL be."
My main point is, a player who starts out playing quarters is only bankrolled for quarters. If your basic working-class low-roller winds up on the $2 triple plays, it's not a "strategy" anymore, it's problem gambling. And it happens.
I know a scary story will drive home your point to the gullible, but
I think your main message is "Don't get carried away." and I sure
agree with that.
The gullible are the flock I'm worried about. There are authors out (I shan't name the beasts) there who advocate moving up in denomination as a means of winning "in the short term". There are also thousands of problem gamblers who are emotionally inclined to play way above their bankrolls. Mix these two ingredients and it's a recipe for disaster. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
John
