Real cost of an "error"

There are several packages that will analyze a game assuming perfect

software that will evaluate any strategy chart and give an accurate
expected return when following that strategy. I would like to know of
any such software.

It's called Frugal Video Poker.

Must be some new version that I've never seen. But Jim Wolfe, who wrote
it, is not supporting it or updating it. He even dropped his new Wolf
Video Poker.

Sorry to disappoint you. Although Frugal is a very good program that
will generate a strategy and give an approximate payback, it will not
evaluate a chart and give a precise expected return with that strategy.

I repeat the offer to accurately evaluate the chart you're using for
Double Bonus.

I'm not sure what you've seen, but the version available for free download
from http://www.wolfvideopoker.com/FVP.htm does indeed evaluate custom
strategy charts. I just now tested it for the one in question. If I remember
correctly it has had this feature since the first version. Are you claiming
its results are not correct or did you just not know it had that feature?

If I ever have a need to evaluate a sub-optimal strategy and FVP can't
handle it I will take you up on your kind offer.

Dan ... it's unlike you to assert a claim without having firmly checked it out. Nonetheless, Frugal VP (and Wolf VP) will analyze the ER impact of certain strategy changes.

The program permits you to reorder a strategy (e.g. place "hold Pair A" over "hold 2 Pair") and analyze the adjusted ER. This is performed via the "Strategy Charts"/"Tweak" option.

Also, the program permits you to inherit the strategy of one game into another (e.g. "Inherit 9/6 JB strategy for 8/5 BP Play") and again analyze the ER impact, via an option within the "Tweak" menus.

Both options are easily executed and provide fast results.

The most recent version of Wolf VP discussed on wolfvideopoker.com (I haven't seen this) expands this capability to the ability to analyze any indicated strategy, including holds not native to the original strategy.

I've got some kind of glitch in my WVP. On 9/6 Jacks, with the payscale set to default, and my verifying that the payscale is correct, the analyzer keeps coming up 99.5429% and royal odds of 39,724....instead of 99.5439% and royal odds of 40,390.

False Alarm! I had the strategy set on the Basic Chart instead of the Penalty Chart. Sorry, Jim.
