First off - on Man Against Vegas - it just seemed to end in mid run. I
never saw the guy up more than about $20,000 (or less) or down more than about
$40,000 from his original Million. He claimed to be trying to win back about 3
million he had lost years before, but his bets were generally a few
thousand, so during the show he risked maybe $20,000 at most, often less, so to win
his millions (or lose his initial $1 million stake) would take a LONG time at
this rate. Did I miss a final show or did it just peter out?
Re King of Vegas - I watched first show and found it boring. I didn't know
why they'd chosen those people (and not - say - me for instance!). Also
initial blackjack betting seemed pretty much bizarre and showed mostly no or
little knowledge of blackjack. Not even tournament strategy made sense when
during the first or second hand people were hitting hard 17s, failing to hit 16
(or surrender, which was available) against high cards, etc. You'd think even
the dimmist person trying to "king of Vegas" would have learned minimal
basic strategy.
Anyway, when I turned on episode 2 and saw the same nitwits once again in
action, I turned it off.
Maybe this show could work if they had auditions and "average joes" (like
ME!!) could get on, but this one didn't work for me. I found myself wondering
what happened to weirdo "Man Agains Vegas Guy" - his show didn't make much
sense either, but at times it was entertaining, like when he took ordinary nickel
slot players and gave them money to play on the $100 machines. (take ME I
thought to myself...hey, I'm only human...)
best, Linda
