Sunshine and disclosure are always better. The casino people know what
they are doing; I guess we can assume that.

A_M- you have been referencing the basic game, not the overall play. A
promo can be more important than the base play. Sometimes a promo, like this
August Silverton one really wasn't thought out by the casino. It lasted what, 17
days?
A mistake can outlast a promo. Alot of casinos have different point accrual
rates for VP and Slots. Bob Dancer's column yesterday addressed a mistake in
this vein.
Here is another one. The River Palms, Laughlin set up their quarter VP as
slots when they opened their non-smoking room. There were only 4 playable VP
machines in quarters (FPDW, Bonus 8/5,DB 10/7 and Jacks 9/6/5000). Getting an
extra .2%cb + .1% comps helped, but cutting half the points needed for their
daily promos also added as least as much. I, and others shared this info
privately. The play lasted over a year before they shut down non-smoking room for
the lack of action. This was a low-roller nirvana play.
I tend to "just shut-up" more than I used to.
