Sounds like the new system will be a bit confusing. They should just have
merged the new points and old and made things simpler. Hopefully all
machines will now give points. I was thinking if they didn't I would finally
stop all play at the Palms. Since we moved here 7 1/2 years ago (time
flies!) we generally have stopped by the Palms at least once a week or more.
When we first moved here we found ourselves going almost every day and often
playing. Then as their mailers decreased and they took any machines with
NSU out of promotions (or sometimes out of promotions - it was very
confusing), we decreased our play considerably, but still played a little and often
ate at Little Buddah (one of my all-time favorite restaurants). It was
annoying to have those NSU-containing machines taken off of promotions since
I was playing the much worse game DDB on them - not fair! - but they
ignored this. (And by the way Palms people, NSU is not a 100% game either!!)
But despite decreased play, we did play a bit each month and often ate
there. But disallowing machines from any points would be downright doubly
stupid, since we could (and often do) walk right across the street to the Gold
Coast where we can play NSU and DDB and get points (and multipliers) and
much better mailers than the Palms.
If the Palms wants more business from gamblers they should think of doing
the following: follow the Gold Coast example of free play or comps for ALL
machines, improve the buffet, improve the music they have blasting (just
put on the hip hop after 9 p.m. when the nightclub people show up), and
improve mailers to equal GC's, and also have discretionary comps for slot
players.
I guess with the new system I will have to go to dinner, figure out the
bill, then go out to find a kiosk to print out a comp - annoying!! I'll try
to use up my comps at some of the nicer restaurants now (haven't been to
Alize in a long while) so they won't expire.
