re cell phones

The Cells in LV Hilton sportsbook area are not blocked. I was there
today and my Cingular cell worked fine. Also a guy stood next to
sportsbook on his cell talking to someone about football. Casinos
try to stop people from using cells at Sportsbook area and may tell
you you cannot answer at BJ or other table games (this happened to
me).

I've had good luck with Cingular which works inside most casinos
including Palms and LV Hilton where others have had problems.
Reception is spotty inside Harrahs.

The reason that casinos tell you about cell phones in sportsbook is because it is illegal to use one there. It isn't illegal at the blackjack tables, but the casinos have the right to set the rules on what is considered proper conduct at the tables. Of ocurse anywhere else at the casino, such as at your VP machine where you are not a disturbanc eto anyone else, cell phone usage is no problem. It is illegal in the sports book because the gaming authorities do not want illegal bookies and wiseguys jumping to an unfair advantage with line information, laying off large bets, and related individuals interfering with the orderly operation of the sports book.
