Rampart Casino

Has anyone had any dealings with the people at the Rampart Casino??
We were just there on a supposedly comped stay, where we were told by
the slot host that if we ran 20 to 25 K thru daily, there would be no
problem in getting our room comped. Totally different story when it
came to check out time. Out slot host went on vacation and the head
slot person refused to comp anything, stating that in order to comp
the room, that they would need 100,000 daily run thru. They ended up
comping us nothing, even though we held up our end of the deal by
averaging 29,000 daily.

Well, now that you mention it, yes. I carelessly left over $200 of
slot club points on my card and went a few years without playing
there. When I next went to play, the points had been deleted, as
many, if not most, places do when there's that long a period of
inactivity. I was told to contact the supervisor at the slot club to
ask about getting these points reinstated. I did and he sent me the
following message: "if you should come back and give us the play that
you did in the year 2000 (121 hrs, 105,000 coin-in) I will be more
than happy to reinstate the points." I have almost doubled that
amount of play this year. When, after not seeing my old points added
to my account, repeated attempts to get a response from the slot club
supervisor who sent me that message failed, I sent a letter to the
Vice President and General Manager. The slot club supervisor finally
responded and said that, after talking about it with the Vice
President and General Manager to whom I wrote, they "cannot" (not
would not, as I assume he means) reissue my points. He said they had
no legal obligation to reissue them. When I conceded that but asked
him if he considered himself morally obligated to do what he said he'd
do, he just repeated that he "cannot" (as if, as a last resort,
assuming the casino didn't have it, he didn't have $200 in his pocket
or bank account that he "could" have given me) reissue the points.

<<He said they had no legal obligation to reissue them. When I conceded

Of course he has a legal obligation. Show him the message that you relied on
when coming in to gamble. Show it to Gaming.

They're very random, unfortunately. Marriott owns the property, but due
to religious reasons (as Mormons, they are opposed to gambling-yes,
that's the story), they lease out the casino-they do this with several
other properties worldwide as well. So, it becomes a hard (cash) comp
to get the room. Your basic Rampart generic host has to go upstairs to
get it okayed.

I don't play much at Rampart anymore. The slot management has totally
screwed up the promotions, and is making it less and less player-
friendly. It will be interesting to see what happens when Red Rock
opens, because you know the Red Rock product will be SOA and comps will
be more plentiful.

The GM's name, it's Sal Semola, and his pedigree includes working for
two Indian casinos (Foxwoods and Greektown). If I rememember correctly,
it was on Sal's watch in Detroit where a housewife got on a roll
playing dollar pick'em and got backed off by the casino (Millenium,
which used to manage Greektown, made a big deal of saying this was the
tribe's decision). I mention Foxwoods and Greektown, because, in terms
of sheer incompetency of casino management, stand head and shoulders
above pretty much every other casino in the US. I'm sure it's not Sal's
fault, however (nor Bill Paulos').

Sal, if you're reading this, regarding Rampart, take this friendly
piece of advice: your management team makes things very difficult on
your booth personnel. Read elsewhere for more.

I stayed at the Rampart last year and was happy with things. Used
Gina Lombardi as a host. Even though she was not there when I checked
out, she credited my account for all charges and comped what she said
she would.

I did have a bad experience though at the Cannery which is a sister
property (similar to yours where a "supervisor" just refused to do
anything). You might want to contact Bill Paulos as someone else said.

The booth and booth supervisors are nice enough people, but you need a
real host, not a couple masquerading as same. A friend of mine uses
Brenda Park, and speaks well of her.
