It will now be called Tropicana Express starting next month. Columbia
Sussex which also owns the Tropicana in Vegas has decided a name change
is in order. On July 28, Bobby Vinton will be attendance with the
ribbon cutting ceremony.

Wow, I would have given even money CS would have sold this casino off within
two years of aquiring it. So does this mean River Palms will be the one sold
off?

What is down the line now... a Tropicana branded slot card for LV, AC and
Laughlin?

Is the brand Tropicana actually viewed as favorable? Maybe it was a decision
by default when Ramada wanted out like Hilton did with the Flamingos?

Did this casino open as the Ramada Express? Ramada Express certainly means
something different nowadays in branding, compared to 20 years ago.

Yes, I was a little surprised by this change of name. It is hard to
know what it all means however. The Ramada Express...err Tropicana
Express just went through a remodel job on the hotel, so perhaps they
feel that that is the one to keep. The River Palms needs some $$
attention, and with avaiable land next to it, they may feel it might
be easier to sell. Maybe they want to keep both properties?

It may just be as simple as they had to get rid of the name "Ramada".
I just don't know though---The name Tropicana and the train theme
just don't seem to go together.
