Rama Trip Report (Sun Nov 18, 2007)

The "Pick'em Poker" and "Poker for Dummies" machines with the nice
cabinets were REMOVED. In their place: "Triple Action Poker". YES!!!
The Pick-a-Pair machines are still there.

The full-pay Jacks or Better 3/5/10 play 25c/50c/$1 machines are still
there.

The "Let it Ride Bonus" tables have a new layout. The felt is still
green, but the 1,2,$ spots are now bright RED.

The renovations for the Dreamcatcher Sports Lounge and new Platinum
lounge are well under way.

That's all for now. If you have any comments or anything to add, please
do.

And, they're labelled "Hot New Game"!

I cannot fathom why Rama seems so enamoured with these machines, unless
they were suckered into buying them and feel obliged to put them on the
floor, or they make a lot more money for the casino than we can
possibly imagine.

This would have been a perfect opportunity to put in some more 3/5/10
play machines with half decent games, perhaps bringing back the
5c/10c/25c version that a lot of people enjoyed.

Thank you for your reply. From what I know the "Triple Action" machines
are popular because they offer the opportunity to win a 12,000 coin
Royal Flush, which I HAVE seen.

The Multi-hand Blackjack games were gone very quickly and replace with
Pick'em Poker games. Unfortunately, the Pick'em Poker games never had a
chance to "catch on" with players. There were some interesting
variations of Pick'em (Joker's Wild, Deuces Wild, etc.) that might not
have been "full pay", but that probably would have "caught on" if
players had an opportunity to play them! I never even had an
opportunity to find out what the payback percentages on these
variations were!

I know a person who had a $12000 royal flush on triple action poker.
It's still a very poor game, in my opinion, for the player.

My experiments with it suggest an overall payback in the 95-98%
range, at best. That requires play at full coin (which most people
I've watched do not do), and, of course, allows for that extremely
rare royal flush when in triple action mode. The probabality of that
is, I believe, in the neighbourhood of that of a dealt royal in
regular VP.

That means a person playing 10 line 25c JOB has about the same chance
of a really nice $10000 jackpot (albeit for a higher per deal wager),
while having a much smoother ride, and a much greater chance of being
able to hang in there.

From a purely selfish standpoint, I don't mind them having these
machines, and making considerable profit from thme, if that's really
the case, as long as it's not at the expense of their not being able
to provide an ample number of machines having games that I want to
play.

Amen, but it would be nice if they put in some more of
the 98.9%+ games.
