Hi Gang:
Hedy and I continue to ride the roller-coaster that is DBDJ at Harrah's in
AC, although assorted bonus quads, including aces three times this weekend,
managed to keep our loss at a reasonable rate.
Gee, things seemed to be going so much better when we were hitting a royal
every week!!
We also had an interesting conversation with a high-ranking Harrah's suit
who told us that the area under construction where the old Reflections was is
now going to house a new restaurant (McCormick's and Schmick's), an expanded
portion of the poker room AND a racebook!! Finally!!
Harrah's is the last casino in AC to open a racebook and we're not sure what
took them so long. It really was a pain in the neck to have to leave the
casino and go elsewhere to place a bet ... especially around this time when the
Triple Crown is contested.
The royal on the 8/5 JOB dollar progressive at Harrah's also has been
topping out at over $10,000 for the past two weeks. It was hit at $10,300 two weeks
ago and it went at just under $11,000 this week. This game gets positive at
around $8,700, I believe, and Hedy and I take a stab at it from time to time
when the royal gets high. We hit it not too long ago when it was just short
of $7,000.
I also had an interesting draw this past weekend when I held a queen and
drew four aces! Unfortunately, I was playing dollar 9/6 JOB at the time!
Harrah's has also added a bank of Multi-Strike, Super Times Pay machines and this
game can really get addictive. The only decent pay table is 9/6 DB but the
six-coin bet on all four lines can really drain your money. We fooled around with
it, made a couple of hits but, ultimately, we stayed too long at the party.
We'll be in town this Saturday and Sunday nights, staying at Harrah's, and
taking advantage of a 6X RC multiplier on Saturday and a 7X on Sunday. We're
going to try to build up some comps for our Vegas trip to the Rio (June 13-23)
when I'll be playing in the World Series of Poker.
Regards,
CoachVee (Tom V) & Hedy
PS: I'll be posting my Belmont Stakes selections on Thursday.
