I received an offer from the Venetian which is fairly typical for my level of play - $325K last year on 4 trips. The offer was stay up to 4 days, $200 in slot credit, $100 food credit and a champagne basket celebrating my birthday. What I first didn't notice, but later read since I am using the offer to visit in late April was the payment of slot (or table) credit for cashing an IRS check at their cashier's cage. What struck me was the amount - approximately 25%-35% of the value of the check depending on the amount of the check (it is a sliding scale based on the amount of the check). It maxed out at $2500 for an IRS check of $10,000 or more. What grapped my attention is that, while the offer in general relates to the level of play, the slot credit is for something completely unrelated and does not equate with the level of play. In my situation, due to a number of circumstances, I happen to be getting a refund check in excess of that $10,000. The way I look at it, I am getting appx. .77% bounceback on the entire prior year's play. What a deal! I have never paid attention to the IRS check cashing promos before since I do not live near casinos. Now the questions.
First, has the Venetian done this in the past years?
Second - is this type of offer common in other casinos?
Third - If other casinos do this, what is the general level of promotion?
Here I am looking forward to using a good offer to spend time in Vegas and I find a hidden bonanza - such a deal.
Now the quest
