Being dealt a pair (8s, 8c) or (Ad, Ah) with a choice of 3c,Jc or 5c,
10c, both Winpoker and Frugal seem to favor EITHER the 3 or the Jack,
or EITHER the 5 or the ten.
It would seem to me that the high card is the choice, but both
programs choose EITHER.
Am I doing something wrong or have I found an error in both programs?

I'm not an experienced Pick'Em player, but my guess would be that,
with the pair of 8's, since you already have a pair, you would need
two pair (or higher) to get paid...therefore the value of the second
pair is meaningless.
Same with the pair of Aces, you have a paying pair...and you need to
improve the hand to two pair or a full house for a higher
payback..and the value of the second pair or full house does not
change the payout.

Remember Pick'em is 9s or better. A 10 is a high card.
