In fooling around on the net I saw that the JWMarriott and the Suncoast casino, both near each other, are sold out for those dates. Just curious as to why ?

NCAA tourney starts 3/15. It won't be in Vegas, but it always brings in the sports bettors.
This causes rates on the strip to go up, which then pushes demand for rooms to lower prices locations.
There could also be another event in town adding to the demand for rooms at those places, but, for sure, the NCAA tourney is playing a key role.

March Madness starts then and a lot of basketball bettors come to town. This link has the largest conventions, also holidays and sporting events listed for 2011.
