Sounds like you are getting a Unicode character when you hit the space bar twice, which some email clients cant display.

I haven't quite figured out where the mystery question marks come from.? I am running Windows XP, IE 6.0 and Comcast broadband access.? I do the standard 2 spaces after a period.? Maybe that is the issue.
Ok, here's the experiment.
This time I will try one space after a period. Ok, that was with one space.
Now I will try 2 spaces after a period.? Ok, this was 2 spaces.? Let's see where the question marks show up.
