Which got me to thinking: what would be the logic in this from the
casino's point of view? If a casino is offering a 99.5% game, why
not offer 9/6 DDB or 9/7 DB on the same machine?
I'd suspect that games like DB or DDB, where the player gets the thrill of mini-jackpots for quad aces, will draw more customers than JOB, hence the casino can get away with offering worse odds. The vast majority of people don't understand anything about odds; it's not like most customers figure such things out logically. But over the long term with lots of customers, I can see why people would tend to get drawn to games with the thrill of mini-jackpots, & get enough "fun factor" out of these to compensate for their overall loss. It's not like most people even keep track of how much they win/lose long term. They just have a memory of how much fun they had; this is somewhat corrolated to overall win/loss, but far from perfectly.
