heard same? Is Harrah's selling or being bought out in Shreveport?
Question- are the Downs and Horseshoe being sold?
all of harrahs is being bought and will no longer be a public
company...and yes that would include shreveport...

As Lv-Nv-realtor said, Harrah's is being purchased and taken private,
meaning that they will no longer be a public stock company. There is
no firm word at this time, but rampant speculation, as to how that
will affect individual Harrah's properties.
Since Harrah's has just finished a massive expansion, purchasing many
different properties, I suspect it's reasonable to expect that the new
company will want to get rid of some of the properties that don't
perform as well as they would like. They will also probably trim some
of Harrah's many thousands of employees.
As a Texan, and frequent Shreveport visitor, I'd offer the following
observations: First, one of the two private companies buying Harrahs
is a Texas based company. I think this, and other signs, bode well for
the legalization of gambling in Texas in the near future. Should that
happen, it will have an obvious impact on casinos in Shreveport and
Oklahoma.
Until that time, I doubt that Harrah's will sell the Horseshoe
property it now owns in Shreveport. This is probably one of their
better performing regional properties. On the other hand, I'd put the
Downs in the "probably get rid of" column. It lacks the full scope of
amenities that Harrah's wants to be able to offer, and isn't in an
even moderately desirable destination the way the Horseshoe is.
But hey, I'm not CEO of the company...so these are just my thoughts!
