Question About Staying at Stations.

When staying at a stations property and signing food charges to your room, do they first use up your comp points/$ if any, then take care of the balance or does your host take care of all the charges based on your play, and leave your points intact?

Thanks in advance.

When I’ve stayed there they have comped most of the meals without taking any points. At checkout I had the option of using points or cash to pay the balance.

Thanks Barry.

Does anyone know if there are 2 separate banks? One for points and one for Comp $$?

At check in, the VIP gave me the impression that perhaps, upon checkout, anything my host wouldn't/couldn't cover, could either be taken from Comp $, Points or Cash/Credit. Any thoughts? --- In vpFREE@yahoogroups.com, "Barry Shiffrin" <barry.shiffrin@...> wrote:

There are two separate banks. You can easily access the one for points through the ATM style machines and get cash back, etc.

The other bank contains recognition/tier points. You can access this one also, but the ATM machines have no printers so you can't print restaurant comps. You can go to the booth and they can print comps from this account, but you have to name the amount you want for what restaurant.

The method the hosts like you to use is to just sign everything to your room. The host reviews it while you are checking out or after you check out. Whatever the host doesn't comp, (say room service tips), gets charged to your credit card. You could get screwed doing this if the host doesn't know you and is miserly with comps. I had this happen to me at Green Valley Ranch once and was not comped much at all despite my level of play. I haven't been back. Red Rock is my favorite place to play and I never had a problem with comps there.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, however, now I'm caught in between, as I asked my host about a "comp" bank and she said it does indeed exist. However, we as players, don't have access to it as it's basically, the amount (% of total action) that we are "worth" to the casino. Depending on play/action, a % will be paid back in forms of comps, which will first be used to cover room, then F&B charges, then all rest.

So what would be the +EV play considering higher-end action/play? Exhaust ALL points $ before checking out, or perhaps banking them and hope the host will "take care" of all charges through "comps $", otherwise pull balance from points?

TIA

Every Stations casino is slightly different in their comp policy(leniency)Your host did tell you the truth about a separate comp account, Ive seen the screen. Its host only access and is a bank of earned comps based on total play for a given period(monthly, quarterly.) Some stations are moving away from using this account and are forcing you to use points first and then they will see "what they can do for you." At one time you could you could pretty much get everything comped, if you had decent play, and not touch your point balance. Some hosts now have a "points only" attitude for comps. Playing only positive VP will surely kill your comp balance at the Stations. I mostly play the 99.8% and full pay machines and my mailers and comps are crap. Before the new policies went into effect it was no problem to get a $150 dinner comp. Now its just a waste of time arguing with them. On the other hand if you're still a big loser on these machines they will cut you some slack.
