I was in Las Vegas last Dec. and rented a car from Dollar at the
airport. I noticed the Fastlane service had one girl working there
and a long line of people waiting. I went to the main desk that had
four clerks. I stepped right up to a clerk, completed all the
paperwork and left to get my car. The Fastlane hardly moved. Have
conditions changed? Is signing up for Fastlane worth it? Thanks
for any information.
Question about Dollar's Fastlane service
If you are a Fastlane member and your Fastlane information (credit card etc.) is current and correct, there is no need to stand in any line at all. The driver drops you at the lot near your designated car type. You pick one out and complete any necessary paperwork as you clear the checkpoint. IMO, it is worth it to sign up. It is a real time saver.

I am a Fastlane member and never go to the counter. I
make my reservations online and the driver takes me
directly to the cars with no stop at the counter. It
sounds like you just hit them at an odd time(without a
prior reservation).

I will second this advice. Use Fastlane , it is quick, and hassle free, I am usually out on the road within 5 minutes of getting off of the Dollar shuttle bus.

We are Fastlane members and have had trouble the past 3 trips to Las Vegas.
The first one was our fault.. we had cancelled the credit card we used on
the Fastlane acct. However, after that trip, we updated our account
online, and it hasn't worked. The past 2 times the driver said we had to go
inside. Inside clerks had the current and correct credit card account and
could not explain why it was necessary to come in. We waited 1/2 hour for a
car. as there weren't any .. lot supervisor finally gave us an upgrade(a PT
Cruiser??). (There were at least 5 cars in the lot with their hoods up. I
assume they were not in working order.) After our "upgrade" it took another
20 minutes to get out of the lot. We are thinking of trying someone else. We
did well with Fastlane until this year.
