Question About Computing Average Cost of Play

The Wynn Resort has a progressive 5Spot Keno game I've mentioned
earlier. But I have some additional details, and I'm uncertain how to
deal with them.

The game normally costs $2. But, if I play 50 games, the cost is
reduced 10% ... the cost goes to $1.80 per game. Simple enough.

In addition, if I bet at least $350 per day in the Keno lounge, I will
earn a free $34 buffet.

I must spend $350 to get the free buffet, but it seems like the
free buffet further reduces the average cost of my Keno play. Or does
it? Is it valid to treat the free buffet as a form of "cash back"?

From previous discussions, some people would say no, some yes, and of
course, you can treat it any way you want. I think a reasonable way
to treat the $34 comp is to count it for what it replaced. If your
alternative meal expense was going to be $20, then count it as $20.
If you were going to eat there anyway, then count it as $34. Assuming
a 75% return on 200 games, I get your expected return to be:
(200 X $2.00 X 0.75 + $34)/(200 X $1.80) ~ 92.8%
I hope that was your question. My wife and I got to eat there four
times, and we thought that the breakfast buffet was the best value---I
think it was $16.

brumar,

If you really like to play 5-spot Keno, you may want to try
California Hotel and Casino keno where $1 bet pays $1,000 on a 5 out
of 5 hit. Anywhere else you play in vegas, you only win $750 or
less. Wait till you see what they pay on 4-spot and 7-spot and
compare with the rest.

Good luck!

I made a typo ... I meant to say 6-spot, not 5-spot. But in any case,
the 5-spot payback at California is clearly better than the 5-spot at
the Wynn, which is $700. By the way, do most casinos (California?)
offer discounts for multiple play? Wynn offers a 10% discount for 50
or more games on a $2 ticket for their 4-8 spot games.
