All quarter pick ems now short pay 10000 royal 20 for 3 oakind. Word on the street is that the dollar games coin in will be bumped or pay scale switched 2 short pay. Told that double point days hurt them.. Isn't that the intent of the promotion 2 get more play from players? 33rd floor lounge starting Oct 2nd will only b opened Fri, Sat and Sunday. Mohegan continues 2 cut at all the wrong places. They need to think like the gambler thinks, not the bean counters. Closing 33rd floor lounge will only chase players elsewhere where their business is welcomed. Pick em games have always made Mohegan money. Plenty of players playing short coin and wrong strategy. They tried this a few years ago lowering pay out with little success. Players quit playing dollars. Time will tell.
Quarter pick em switched 2 short pay
Plenty of players playing short coin and wrong strategy.
If that continues why would they switch back to FP ? It's the stupidity and/or addiction of players that let casinos lower paytables.
Does that mean that alot of the quarter players really never knew the exact EV of the game and simply played it because its so easy to learn ?
I would think that most( but not all) of the dollar PEm players are aware of the FP paytable and will react to its lowering.

When did they make the change, I was just there this weekend? Caesar's lounges are barely opened and offer very little. I thought things were going better for the casinos. Doesn't the casino benefit with higher payouts for certain machines, increasing the averages for all machines. They have been cutting back on freebies also. Good luck and Royals to all. Ciao Don

I was afraid of that. I was at Mohegan last Monday and they had all the 25c Pick'ems shut down. Nothing else was shut down only these machines including the two that are separate from the primary row of machines.
I play $1.00 Pick'em and over the past three years have had swings of being up by $3K to down $3k.
My fear is that they'll water down or take down these machines when I'm on the downside. Then there would be no way to work my way back to the expectation of being close to even. At this point after two very bad sessions I am down by close to $3k right now.
If they water down the pay tables now, there will be no way I'll play in an attempt to get even. Sure I have close to that in comp points, but cash is worth much more to me than points.
I've seen the way many people play pick'em. Believe me the casino must be doing significantly better than breakeven on these machines from a pure cash flow perpesctive -- not including comp costs. Many people play less than 5 coin and that waters down the player's EV quite a bit with lower payables for each dollar bet.
So if you are significantly down when they remove the breakeven paytables, there will be no way to get back to even.
I don't see how that will increase their business or bottom line. They've already watered down the comp rate from $90 CI per $1 in comp points to $140 per $1 and recently to $150 per comp point.
Ocassionally I bring my wife and she plays less than perfectly as well as friends that also play only marginally well.
Well if they remove the breakeven games (with perfect strategy play), neither my wife, friends nor I will gamble there or spend any money there any longer.

Along with the last poster, I bring along friends and family to the casino with almost every visit. None play with perfect strategy, many play slots, one plays blackjack. (I certainly don't play perfectly either!) We spend our comps on show tickets, restaurant meals and hotel rooms. Even if the double points brought our expected returns close to even on pick em, I can't see how it will benefit Mohegan to chase away all our play (we poker players are here a lot!!). We might be slightly addicted, but we're not stupid enough to play low return games and have our money totally sucked away...

I don't disagree but when MS checks the hold on each machine and finds a group that is below what they expect they wind up doing something about it. They will either change the pay table, increase the coin in for a point or they will pull the machine. I don't think they look at the fact that we all bring friends who play machines where they make a fortune.
