Proposition 3 on the Nevada Ballot affects Video Poker Players Big Time

Here's a link to the information about Question 3 from the
booklet that the Secretary of State sent to all Nevada
voters. It includes the actual ballot question, an
explanation and arguments for and against.

I only have minimal knowledge of the U.S. tax system, but as I read the information that was provided, it appears to me that it is only those gamblers who declare themselves to be professionals that could be affected by this proposed legislation. Is that correct ?

I'm thinking that everyone should just "Keep Calm and Keep Advantage Playing" until Wednesday AM when we will know whether Question 3 has passed. It appears to me that it will likely fail. Even though it is a tax increase and is purported to benefit education, few Democratic politicians have publicly supported it. Culinary has come out against it. The primary supporters appear to be the teachers union. It's not yet time to call your tax advisor.

My advice: Chill and have a nice glass of wine. I'm into Riojas lately.

OTOH any NV residents who are about to vote now have another good reason to vote against Question 3, which I have already done via early voting.

I can't imagine anyone's expected value from voting being positive.

Voting gives you the right to complain about the government. If you don't vote you shouldn't complain.

I like George Carlin's response to that. Those who vote are
responsible for putting the politicians in who cause all the problems,
so it's those who don't vote who have the right to complain.

Yes, but if you don't vote, you can't use those bumper stickers that say, "Don't blame me, I voted for the OTHER A-Hole"

And in a frighteningly large number of states, those same "politicians"
are trying to keep their jobs forever by making sure we are ineligible to
vote.

Too senior or disabled to drive? Too bad... 'cause you need a driver's
license to vote.

If you buy George Carlin's argument, the only people you can complain about are the voters, not the politicians.
