Promotions, Tourneys & Events

Like always The Entertainer gives us the first clues.

CB/EW- Das Beer Fest, the group playing the "oompa" is called The Polka Dudes.

The upcoming RP VP $20k tourney has a different format paying the top 200 with $10 free-play on the bottom end. It isn't a loser's drawing this time but a second chance drawing with 17 drawn ($50-$1k).

RP (Wednesday) and Trop (Th/Fri) have a similar promo with dice. Anyone do this one?

Riverside- Six Pack promo through Oct 31st. No details, but any quad used to get a ticket. Michelob, Riverside Light, Coke or Water this time. I wonder what the out-of-towner discount rate is now for a ticket? How about $5?

So any quad playing quarter Jacks style game (about 424 hands/$530 coin-in) adds .94% if you value a sixer ticket at $5.

GN-L has their "Weekends of Wealth" drawings going again through Christmas. They give away $5k away spread over 15 winners Saturdays @7pm. There have been alot of ways to earn tickets, check the rules.

GN-L has been doing CODs on Thursday and Friday. A 100 coin one adds about .36% playing a Jacks style game.

GN-L rolled out a new free-play promo for football season. Your play from Sunday (4am) to Monday (3:59am) counts. Must claim starting at 10am Monday and use by Tuesday (4am). Minimum is 50 points for $5 free-play, maximun is 1000 points gets $100.

GN-L has varying countdowns from $17.50 to $30 coin-in/point. Last look the quarter clunking DDJ wanted 105 quarters/point ($26.25). So $1,312.50 coin-in gets the first $5, a .38% premium on the Sigmas.

CB/EW have their usual style drawings on Saturdays 7/8pm. But they are giving the prizes based on Card Level, a new twist. Lowly red cards get $400 and top cards $750, but you can trade-up for an envelope worth ($250-$10k). Five winners per casino.

Any other specials out there that have peaked your interest?

The Polka Dudes? Oh, now that sure sounds like an authentic group to me. I never knew "dudes" was a German word. You asked about my offer for the event, and besides the free rooms they give me $30 in festival bucks and two Das Beer Fest T-shirts. I am trying to get rid of gambling oriented T- shirts. I am willing to put up my "collection" against anyone else's accumulation.

You may be high on your estimation of the value of a six pack of pop or beer at $5. I just bought a 12 pack of Pepsi today for $3.50. I always wonder about those that come in on the flights to the Riverside with this promotion. I would say they are willing to sell at a deep discount.

It sounds like BS is getting himself worked up to a trip to Laughlin soon?

T-Shirt Collections- I will concede to your vast collection of Nevada casino T-Shirts. You are the traveler. I don't have a Carson Valley Inn (Minden) shirt or even a Col-Sux* /Mont Bleu/ Bad Company T-Shirt that they issued to you, being a VIP, last weekend at the show.

But I got quantity, not quality. I might not be able to outfit a softball team with matching shirts. But I do think from the Colorado Belle's daily Blackjack Tourney of old, that I could issue enough shirts to outfit a bowling team (with a couple of subs).

Six Pack Promo- You drink Pepsi? I never knew that. I thought it was a Hef or Belgian White as a choice. I am considering the fact that there might be Michelob drinkers willing to buy a sixer coupon for $5. Around my house a sixer of Michelob goes for $5.99+tax.

I do believe MickeyCrimm has some historic thoughts about Laughlin sixer promos. I do remember when the Pioneer did them in the 1990's. They actually brought the sixer to your machine. Cases of beer piled up everywhere. Anyone want to search on the main board concerning Mickey's take on the promo? It is here somewhere on the vpFREEs.

Trip- yeh, I pulled the trigger. Staying at the Pioneer during the special event "Wide Open Golf" tourney. So I might be back in the barking dog rooms this trip.

But people cough-up $350 entry to play goofy golf around and through the Pioneer. It really is a unique weekend, imagine a bunch of folks just having fun in a casino.

*Col-Sux, a term for the Kentucky based Columbia-Sussex outfit first coined by "vpdeuces". In Laughlin, it is RP & Trop X.
