Problem with Winpoker?

Can someone please help me out? Are there inconsistencies in the
Winpoker program for 10/7 DB? It seems that sometimes, keeping an Ace
over AQ off suit is the play, other times, it's not. Same goes for AJ
off suit and a couple other plays. Has anyone else seen this or am I
missing something in the program? Thanks.

Winpoker selects the correct hand. Use analyze the hand feature to check. This has been discussed many times before and has to do with penalty cards. The cards that you discard. Sometimes you may discard cards (penalty cards) that could have helped make a flush or straight if you had held them. Winpoker includes all of this when it calculates the best hold.

You might search the archives here for the term "penalty cards". Also
see item # 40 in the FAQ: http://members.cox.net/vpfree/FAQ.htm

That's correct.

Here's the rule:

General rule: keep the A over AK, AQ, or AJ UNLESS:

the A has a flush penalty with it and NO 10, or the A10 is suited and
there is a 2, 3, 4 or 5*.

Another one you will encounter although it's a very small error (.1 of
a penny at dollars) is with a hand like AKJ95 rainbow. Here the hold
is the AKJ because of the 9. Without the 9, you'd play the usual KJ.

*in the 9-7 game, you would play AK, AQ, AJ over ANY A10s.
