If Stations or another casino were to label someone an "advantage" player
just because he chooses to play only FP Deuces, this would be a stupid mistake.
At the Palms there is an old couple who play on the FP deuces progressive
every day - hours and hours - in fact sometimes I think they must live there
because they are either playing when I arrive and leave, or have locked up the
machine. But if you watch them play, they are making obvious "wrong" plays, a
lot. Obviously they are not "advantage players." In fact, they are the sort of
players most casinos would want (and they tie up those machines a lot so there
are no seats for people who know more about strategy).
So just because someone chooses to play only a FP game, it doesn't really
prove anything.
Also in many instances a person playing may have a spouse. Take me and my
husband. I'm off playing DDB and NSU and sometimes other bad games and even
reel slots - at $1 level, for 2-4 hours in a day. He is playing very very very
slowly, for maybe an hour at the most, but only at FP deuces because he
believes in only playing full-pay games (I'm more of a gambler though I know the
value of better pay tables). But if a casino were to stop sending him bonuses
because they think he is an "advantage player", I'd probably stop playing at that
casino too.
And if Player A stops going to casino B, then he will start advising his
parents, friends, relatives, and every person he ever talks to about gambling, to
stop playing at casino B and play at casino C instead.
So punishing lowly quarter players for playing FP deuces is really stupid, in
my opinion. There is a rippling effect that casinos should realize.
Further, most quarter players are not professionals and as such, they probably are
not playing any where near the 100% accuracy you need to produce long-term wins.
They often have low bankrolls and are hit with "gambling ruin" during short
term losing sessions - which ends up with a tendency to lose more often than
win.
As Jean mentioned, it really isn't smart for a casino to publicly show they
don't want winners. The whole idea of a casino is to promote its few winners,
and bring in the hordes of people who will lose money. Having some decent
games is a great "loss leader" - just like having a low cost buffet. Also many
people play the FP games who have little or no idea of good strategy (like the
couple from the Palms). Often when I've sat at a bank containing FP games,
I've had people sit near me who were playing really outlandishly bad strategy.
I even sat next to a French woman at a deuces wild game who held the aces and
threw away the deuces! And if machines are multi-game machines, often people
play the bad games when they could be playing the FP games on the same
machine. (Actually if I were a casino owner, I would be making sure FP games were
always on multigame machines for just that reason - with double up option
available if wanted).
Anyway, I just hope this news about Stations is wrong or over-exaggerated.
It might make sense for a casino to stop sending Bob Dancer cashback, but for
the average little guy quarter player, it just doesn't make sense.
