the progressive keno at las vegas club on fremont has not moved a single penny..how does this happen?. .well over a year. ....that is the 5 cent keno..maximum amt 20cent bet..I was able to hit 9 out of 10, but other than that ...very tight...the amount never changes. They added a progressive video poker pot to the total, and elimated the progressive poker machine..is this standard in Vegas. .?..in all of our California Casino's progressives are "hit" often...

Last time I checked IGT MegaKeno starts at 95% and is strongly progressive where the meter really moves, unlike all those weak casino hosted progressives that move at snail's paces. Casinos hate progressives, IGT loves progressives, so obviously eventually all useful progressives will be IGT progressives if this hasn't happened already.

The meter has most likely capped. I've seen this before where a ten-spot progressive (frequency 8.9 million) caps out and sits on that number forever.You could go several lifetimes playing everyday and not hit a ten spot.

In Nevada, if there is a cap on a progressive, it has to be stated clearly on or near the machine, otherwise it is a violation. Caps are not gambler friendly as you lose the meter movement part of your return as soon as the cap hits. Sometimes the cap is unintentional and will be released by a key person, othertimes the cap was intentional and the gamblers complaining will get 86'd for noticing. So, as always in a casino, the overall optimal strategy is not clear. We look through the spyglass darkly, as the pirates used to say.

Is that true on the progressive keno machines too that are capped? Have never seen anything posted on the progressive keno at the las vegas club. (Over $96,000 plus)

Maybe I am just not looking in the right area?

Yep. What's the return? It might be an overlay. Wizard has a keno calculator, otherwise the 10 spot cycles are:

0:21.84
1:5.57
2:3.39
3:3.74
4:6.79
5:19.44
6:87.11
7:621
8:7,384
9:163,381
10:8,911,711

Divide each return by the cycle and total it up and compare to the cost of the ticket to see if you have an overlay or not. The nice thing about Keno is what you get is what you get, no chance of making play mistakes like in Video Poker or Video Blackjack. Also everyone thinks Keno is the worst game in the casino so you get the best comps and bounceback and financial sympathy for your loses. Of course get ready for the total casino personality transformation that happens when you finally hit a big one. Not all Keno games are the same, many are the worst allowed by law in the casino, but some are overlays, you just have to look around to find the nuggets hidden among the horse dookey.

sounds like the one at the Las Vegas Club . two machines have been at the same amount for probably close to 3 years that I know of. 9 out of 10 needed for the top prize. I did hit a 9 out of 10, but very low payoff considering what the jackpot is. Thank you for your answer...
