FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOYD GAMING LAUNCHES 'B CONNECTED ONLINE'

- Innovative Features Offer Customers Personalized, Easy-to-Use Experience -

LAS VEGAS - January 15, 2009 - Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE:BYD) today
announced the launch of B Connected Online, the personalized interface for
the Company's new nationwide customer loyalty program.

B Connected Online gives players a one-stop place to monitor special offers,
point balances, and progress toward achieving higher tier levels within the
program. But the site goes far beyond these features, offering a range of
groundbreaking tools that personalize the customer experience.

"Boyd Gaming focuses on providing an exceptional customer experience. B
Connected Online brings that philosophy to the web," said Paul Chakmak,
Chief Operating Officer of Boyd Gaming. "Our goal was to develop
cutting-edge tools that make it easier than ever for customers to enjoy the
benefits of B Connected membership."

B Connected Online includes numerous features that are unique in the gaming
industry, including:

-Personalized Home Page with customized, real-time calendars that provide
customer with a quick snapshot of all events, entertainment, gaming
promotions and exclusive offers at any property on any selected day.

-BCO Mobile (mobile.bconnectedonline.com), a mirror site optimized for use
on mobile phones.

-BCO Desktop, an application that sounds an alert on a customer's computer
whenever a new offer or promotion is sent to the customer's account. (The
application will be available for download later in the first quarter.)

-Slot Search, a navigation tool that allows customers to search through the
slot selection of any Boyd Gaming casino, then provides the specific
location of the game on a casino's floor.

-Webcams will offer live video feeds from five locations in Las Vegas -
Orleans Arena, the Fremont Street Experience, Mystic Falls Park at Sam's
Town Las Vegas, the Gold Coast, and the outdoor area at The Orleans.
Additional webcams at Boyd Gaming properties elsewhere in the country are
planned in the future.

The new B Connected Online website is located at www.bconnectedonline.com.
Features are active for all sites except Par-A-Dice, which is awaiting
regulatory approval. A "B Connected" membership is required to access the
site; membership is free and available at any Boyd Gaming property.

M<y friend told me about this new site while I was in Florida, and I
had him sign me up.

It's quite a site, but I have one problem. When I first logged in, I
had over 48,000 tier points. When I logged in yesterday, the tier
points have dropped by 3,000. No, I don't remember it wrong since I
wrote it down. Anyone have any idea what could have happened?

Tier points are what base points have been earned in the last 90 days
(or, possibly, 3 months). Assuming you didn't play in between the
first two times that you logged in, 3000 points that you had earned
between 90 days before you first logged in and 90 days before
yesterday fell out of that range.

Sure, your old points have dropped off.
The new system is so complicated that I had to speak to a VP to get an answer
to how the new club tiers work. I am a systems analyst and it confused the hell out of me.
Apparently the system uses a rolling count of your points. i.e. when points get old they drop off, and new points come on. They don't use a specific starting point like Harrahs where your points are zeroed out on Jan. 1 and you start over with a clean slate. I think they will be inundated with requests from people wanting to know where they stand and how many points they require to maintain or upgrade their status.
For myself, I will be keeping track of my tier points by trip so I will hopefully know where I am. The new system is not user or Boyd staff friendly.

Regards

The amount of time used depends on your home casino. The downtown properties use 6 months, the coast casinos use 3.

I asked about this by email and got this reply:
Anne;

12 Months from the last date of activity on your account for bonus points (Cash Back & Comps). Tier status is for 6 Months from the date you reached your status, and you only see the most recent 90 days on your tier points.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

Questions: How long do my comp $$ for food stay on my card?

I see that I lose tier level 5/31/09 (6months), but do I lose the comps I have accumulated?

Albert,

The system is very user friendly for LOCALS, since it allows you a lot of time to reach a tier goal. It is NOT good for visitors but I suspect visitors are treated like locals. And, since many Boyd properties are riverboats located where many customers can't just pop in for an hour when they feel like it it may not be a very good thing nationally. But I think it's the right way to go for LV.

Bill

I can live with the system itself. I am registered at MSS as my home Casino and am a designated "Destination" customer. This gives me 6 months to earn my tier and 1 year to keep it. That is double the time that I would get if I was a local, the fact that I need 200,000 points instead of 150,000 is not a problem for me.
The part that is not friendly is the way that the tier points roll on and off making it difficult to know exactly where you stand at any time. At least that is the way I perceive it.

Just returned from mss where I was made an Emerald after the changeover.
If you play the 10/7 DB machines where it takes $3 to earn a point you also earn tier points at $3 per point.
I played 63K coin in and earned 21K tier points. To keep emerald status that means 600K of coin in. No way possible for me as I live a long ways away.
Got 33 scratchers over 2 days. 32 were $2, 1 was $5.

How do I register what casino I want as my "home" casino? And,
how do I get designated as a "Destination" customer? If I live in
SoCal would it make any difference?
Thanx in advance for your responses.

Dave B.

SoCal makes you a "destination" customer, not a local for tier point purposes.

If you want to get your home casino changed before your next trip an email to casino marketing (through the bconnected site) should take care of it. Casino Marketing has responded to my emails within 24 hours through the bconnected site.
