Prairie Band Trip Report

We just returned from the Prairie Band Casino north of Topeka where we
spent the past couple days. They were running a promotion where we
could get 10 times points. This was a one day thing for Monday only
(every Monday in November). We planned on driving the RV over on
Monday and staying that night coming home on Tuesday. But
circumstances changed so we jumped in the old motorhome and headed out
Sunday afternoon.

It takes about an hour and 15 minutes for the very pleasant drive. We
take the back roads and enjoy traveling through Kansas farmland and
country side.

We had a couple cash coupons from the casino that covered our gas
expenses and they give us free camping as well. They also had a
player appreciation promotion going on all week where we could get
free food so took advantage of that perk.

Harrah's manages and operates Prairie Band for the Pottawatomie Indian
tribe so points earned there are good at other Harrah's locations as
well.

We had a great trip and enjoyed beautiful weather, in the 70's with a
spectacular Kansas sunset where God painted the whole sky a brilliant
red. Not bad for the second week in November.

We hit the machines pretty hard on Monday and racked up around $300
for our player's account, $300 we can spend for food, etc, in any
Harrah's casino. Since we are going to Las Vegas next week, we will
find good use for it. Harrah's recently bought out a bunch of other
casinos so we are getting offers from places where we have never
stayed before -- Paris for example. Oh yes, we also won some money.

We entered the casino about 9:30 Monday morning and most of the slant
top AA machines were taken. One lady was there when we arrived and
was still sitting at the same machine when we left for the evening
around 7:30 (we were in and out all day since we were staying in the
RV park). Over ten hours straight playing the same machine -- and I
thought Lucky Lucy was a hard core case.

Today (Tuesday) we broke camp and got ready to leave but first went
into the casino for a free breakfast buffet. On the way out Lucky
Lucy stopped to play a nickel Multi-Strike machine for a little
entertainment not expecting to win any money. Sure enough her bucks
went away fast and she was down to the last 10 cents. She bet the
whole "wad" on the last hand ---- and hit a royal flush for $80! What
a way to end the trip. She was grumbling on the way home that now she
has to play another 39,999 hands before getting another royal. I told
her it was OK, that was only for nickel machines and didn't affect
dollar play.

Safe and pleasant trip home, we now have to get the camper ready for
the cold weather that has to be just around the corner.

Are the $ AA machines typically packed on Mondays?

I can't answer for every Monday but this particular Monday they were
giving 10x points to Diamond players (and multiple points to the
others). Other times we have visited PB the dollar AA machines were
available and the quarter AA machnes in the bartop were usually open.
The quarter slant tops get a lot of play, but for games other than AA.
