It seems that the VP programmers should be doing the same thing. This would
provide a steady stream of income even after the initial purchase is made. I
know that not everyone will pay an annual fee, but many would IF there are
regular upgrades and enhancements.

The trouble is casinos just won't fire-up the decent playable versions of any
novelty game. Just run through the vpFREE glossary. Go back to the original
Action gaming 3/5 plays. The best paytable I ever saw was 8/6 Jacks. How
about STP, Multi-strike, Spin-poker, Five Aces, One-Eyed Jacks and my favorite
Chase the Royal.

There are several more, but so few playable novelty machines on a casino
floor anywhere.

While this is generally true, how many "mistakes" have been discovered by
the people on this and other boards?

I once found a game called "King of the House" that paid 100 coins for a
full house. The mistake was that it was supposed to pay 1 for two pair but
it was set to pay a normal 2. At the time this game was paying out 103% and
it was available on 3 play dollars. I made a mint on this machine before the
mistake was discovered.
