##What are PPE open comps? I just switched to Hilton a couple trips ago.
I was just thinking of asking for air fare before I go next time. I
don't know if they do that. Is the Hilton owned by Park Place?
Thanks....Whitejeeps##

The open comps I am referring to is the amount shown after your points on the
card reader display when you first insert your player's card. They are earned
through your play at any of the LV PPE properties, plus some PPE properties
in other cities. Eventually all the properties will share in the earning and
use of these comps, if it hasn't already happened.

Before it's sale, the Hilton was owned by Park Place Entertainment (PPE). Now
that it has been sold, there will certainly come a point in time when you can
no longer use your PPE comps there.

Being a LV local, I can't give you much info on getting your airfare comped,
except to say that you had better be a HUGE player, and probably a big loser
as well!

Hi again Brian
Thanks. Now I understand open comps. I just read on acvp Resorts made
offer or deal to buy LVH. Bad news for players.(In my opinion) I
guess there is a link here to Review journal with the article about
sale. I'll have to look for it.
Thanks again. Have a happy and profitable new year.

Update to my last post.
Seems I read acvp post wrong.

LVH has been sold to Colony Capital. They are a developer of some
kind. They have deep pockets. They have operated casinos but seems
they are more interested in the property. They did own Resorts in AC
for a while. They might be OK operators for us players.

Just an update. I hate it when I post something not correct. Maybe I
should say in safe place by not posting. Can't make any mistakes that
way.

Again, Happy New Year to all.......Whitejeeps

Isn't it the case that they (or perhaps more precisely, one of their
affiliates) still owns Resorts?

Hi there Harry
Maybe? I only read article once in lvrj. You can go there -
lvrj.com. Search LVH and news article is somewhere in Dec. The
article didn't seem to be real clear about who owns Resorts now.
Reading was never my best subject. Click over and check it out.

Have a good 2004....Whitejeeps

Can anyone offer suggestions as to which hotel is better? Harvey's or
harrahs Lake Tahoe. I was offered a 3 night comp at either hotel and have
read the reports but can't decide which is better to stay at. thanks.

Rooms at Harrah's are really nice -- some of them have twin bathrooms.

Harveys has some better views, being right on the lake

But the hotels are connected -- it doesn't much matter.

The rooms at Harrahs are much nicer. I think that is what you are
asking.?

Harveys has covered parking with a very nice diamond parking area on
the 3rd floor right next to the casino entrance; just show a (I
didn't say "your") diamond card at the Harveys' total rewards
counter and they will give you a tracking card keyed to the toll
booth. At this time of the year, this is a definite plus, because
you don't need to worry about having to dig your car out of the
Harrah*s' parking lot after a winter storm.
The Mountain Tower rooms at Harveys are about half as nice as the
standard rooms at Harrah*s. The luxury Lake Tower rooms at Harveys
are comparable to the standard rooms at Harrah*s. So make sure you
are comparing apples with apples. If you get a room at the Mountain
Tower at Harveys and go to your floor from the hotel lobby
elevators, make sure a cab is waiting for you at your floor----it
can be a mile long walk from the elevator to your room.

Well kept secrets at Harveys:
1) 25c NSU Deuces are alive and well at Harveys, they reside
inside the Hard Rock Café, and are fast (speed adjustable) touch
screen machines. Why would a sane person forgo the 100.65% Deuces
Deluxe in favor of the 99.73% NSUD? Precisely to maintain one's
sanity! After tormenting yourself with those 10+ year old clunky,
funky, Sigma Deuces Deluxe, I'm sure you'll arrive at the same
conclusion, and say to yourself: "Thank heavens I am not a pro, I
can _afford_ to lose $3 an hour if I choose to!" My sentiments,
exactly.
2) The pork shank at the Hard Rock Café is even better than my
mom's (mom: that's OK, when I have your pork shank, I didn't have to
put up with the bartendress doing the "YMCA" on top of the bar
counter). There is nothing better to wash down the pork shank with a
few glasses of Moet & Chandon followed by another few glasses of B&B
at this time of the year!
3) The rude awakening: Well drinks and other reasonable call
drinks are complimentary if you play the slots at the Hard Rock, but
the above-captioned libations (and the pork shank, and the fat tip)
are not. No big deal, just charge that to your room and settle your
account at check-out with your 6-figure total rewards bonus reward
credits. Unfortunately, at this point, you'll be politely reminded
that even though The Hard Rock resides within Harveys, it is not a
property of the Harrah*s Cooperation and nothing other than cold
hard cash can settle your previous night's indiscretions. Now, you
are REALLY glad that you are not a pro!

Choosing between Harrahs or Harveys is like choosing which of the Olsen Twins you'd like to date; the differences are there but small and it depends on how things go. We love the breakfast buffet on the top floor of Harrahs but have had hassles with the valet service there. I choose Harveys because they have a small tv in the bathroom which is more enjoyable than reading a newspaper. The vp play at both is equal in my mind to visiting an indian casino; I would not go to either for advantage play.
